Oh! Poor Maria!!

Maria was a little girl who did not like to study mathematics. She got really poor grades in that particular subject. Her father, being a cop, was really strict on that poor soul. He scolded her hard and often gave her punishments if she did not do well. So, Maria was very scared of him.

Maria as usual had got a zero in her Mathematics test, but this time she nearly fainted in dismay. The reason for this was that her father had warned her that if Maria got any more poor grades in the upcoming tests, he would thrash her hard. Thus, Maria was terror struck.

Poor Maria was so scared that evil thoughts captured her innocent mind. She decided that she would lie to her father about her test results. This way she believed that she could save herself from a sound thrashing.

That night Maria tossed and turned in bed. She could not get a sound sleep and the reason, I hope you all know. She kept on seeing nightmares about her father having discovered her lies and flogging her hard. This way she learnt that she wasn’t lying or wasn’t cheating her father but herself.

At that precise moment she gathered courage and went to her father’s study where she blurted out the whole plain truth. After hearing her whole story her father’s anger melted down and he understood that he had been too tough on his little daughter. This was the first time Maria’s father patiently told her about her wrongdoing instead of scolding or thrashing her. He furthermore co-operated and helped her daughter in Mathematics.

Maria improved rapidly and she too understood that there was a good personality in everyone. She took an oath never to lie again and always speak the truth. This incident proved to be a turning point in their lives and after this they became a happy family.

I suppose that all the parents and students would have learnt a lesson from this story. Feel free to share your thoughts with me!

A TWELVE year old girl wrote this story?! Impressive.

This could be an account of my own childhood (not regarding mathematics, but my father). One time he responded with kindness and I almost dropped dead from surprise.
