Kids Can Surely Make A Difference!

In a small town near the city loved a poor boy named Ryan. His family was so poverty-stricken that they did not receive two square meals even after sweating briskly the whole day. Thus at a young age, Ryan had to do some job for fulfilling his family’s needs.

It was Ryan’s greatest dream to study in a good school. He often told his Mom, “”Ma, I want to become a renowned doctor when I grow up”, to which his mother only nodded her head being depressed and continued with her work. In this way, Ryan’s desires were buried deep inside his sorrowful heart.

Ryan worked in a lavish house which he had always dreamt of having. The family that owned this house possessed immense wealth. They had two children, Kelly & Dick who were really kind souls unlike their parents, who had no soft corner for anybody and were greedy.

Kelly & Dick came to know about the condition of Ryan and they felt pity for him. They therefore decided to help him. Finding a suitable opportunity, one evening Kelly said, “Mom, do you know about the poor life of Ryan? Don’t you think we should help him?” But her questions were ignored and no one listened to their pleadings saying that helping a poor countryside boy was just a waist of money.

Dejected but still filled with hope, Kelly & Dick decided to do something themselves. They saved their pocket money while the other children were having a gala time eating ice creams and candies. The children though eyed them greedily, gradually learnt to control their desires. At last when they had enough money, they provided Ryan with books and pencils. Ryan also kept up with their expectations and worked hard. Dick & Kelly also helped Ryan when they had finished their home works.

Seeing their children working so hard, their parents’ heart was filled with remorse and pity. They immediately admitted Ryan to a good school and financed all his expenses. “Oh, thank you, Mom & Dad”, shouted Dick (happily of course!) when he heard this news and gave his parents a great hug.

The next day when the kids returned from school, they got a real surprise. Something was scrawled on the wall near the gate with a piece of crayon. “Who could’ve done this?”, asked Dick hatching his school bag off his shoulder.

Kelly said in a low voice, “Ma is going to be angry at us”. As she closed the gate behind her, she noticed a piece of paper on the hibiscus bush. It had the same handwriting. “What check!” she cried. “Is someone playing a joke on us?”

Surprised, they entered their house where Mom thrust an envelope into her hand. They soon opened it with a grim face, but burst in peals of laughter as they read the great ‘Thank You’ card inside. They explained that this was all Ryan’s doing to give them special thanks on him being selected for the medicine course to pusue his ambition to become a doctor. “But he will always remain special for us”, shouted the kids in unison.

After writing my short story, I really think kids like Kelly & Dick can make a great difference by changing their parents’ behavior. And oh yes! At least it always is delighting to help someone who is really in need. What do you think?

Can I Change The World??

I wish there was a tree

On which I could live free

Like a bird in the air

Who has freedom every where

I wish there was a day

On which people, were happy & gay

And I could see no one

Weeping and crying but having fun

I wish people were not greedy

And thought of all those who were needy

There should’ve been greenery all around

And I would’ve lived in a house that was round

I wish I could have lots of candies

Without having any cavities

And thus my wish list surely does continue

Wishing for a world that’s all new!!

Wow! I really can't believe I wrote this poem. All my wishes embedded in one poem itself! Great, isn't it? I would appreciate if you could share your wishes with me too...........

Abracadabra! - My One Day Wonder!!

One fine Sunday morning, during my summer holidays, I was sitting under the scorching heat of the sun waiting for my friends on the playground. I had been sitting there since an hour and believed that I would roast if I sat there a second longer. The immense excitement it offered to indulge myself in a great game of hide-and-seek compelled me from going back. Alas! My friends had entirely forgotten about this afternoon appointment and were watching the television at home.

Then suddenly I saw something lying near my feet. Full of inquisitiveness I decided to have a closer examination of it. I then understood that it was only a small piece of wood, but there was something in it that attracted me. Oh yes! It’s striking resemblance to Harry Potter’s wand. I chuckled foolishly to myself. I was then determined to check it out for entertainment. I drew a circle in the air with the wand and ordered it to produce a great feast before me.

I was stunned and dazed when my wish came true. There before my eyes (that I rubbed disbelievingly) was a grand feat. I devoured as much as I could and had a relishing meal. Then the first thing that came into my mind was the poem I wrote about the street children. I felt pity for them and decided to help them.

I pleaded with the wand to finish poverty from this world and make everyone an equal citizen of wealth. Then suddenly the small mud huts along the lane turned into fine stone houses and the children on the street wore good dresses behaving as if nothing had ever happened. My next mission was to put an end to illiteracy and pollution around the globe.

My wishes came true and thus I did a lot to make this world a better place for the needy and I’m sure I succeeded. Suddenly a voice from the wand said that I would have this great magic wand only for today!

Now my greed came back into me and I decided to help myself to many candies and chocolates! I sure had an upset stomach the next day but have no qualms! I didn’t study the whole day long and amazingly got no scolding from my parents only due to this enchanted wand.

The next day certainly, I was heart-broken when I could not find the wand. But there was nothing much I could do except cherish those great memories that I certainly do!

Don’t you people think that my thoughts are really great fantasies? Hope you liked this and considered it meaningful enough!

Absent Minded Professor

There sitting on the computer

For hours and hours and hours

My father sat on a chair

As if he was on a different planet like Mars!

Oh! He is really a genius

An unexpectedly good one

Born in our family

I’m sure I will be the next one

But no matter how much he tries

And looks around hard by using both eyes

He still can’t find his car keys

Which I can see lying near his thighs!!

Is there any one in your family who is as absent-minded as my father? I will certainly not know about it until and unless you tell me. So why hesitate to inform?

Overcoming Your Fear

“Oh no mom, I can’t go there all alone! It’s so dark in the attic.” said the feeble voice of Williams. William is a 12 year old boy who is scared of almost everything around him. He is terrified of his teachers, parents, ghosts, reptiles but all this is a trifle compared to his fear for darkness. Oh yes! He is too scared of the dark. He has a weird feeling of unknown things brushing past him in the unpleasant darkness. He usually ends up hurting himself by tripping over a table or chair. This small brown haired, dark-eyed child is too different from his classmates because he has such a strange nature. Thus he has no friends and is scared or lonely most of the time.

One fine day, Mrs. Jones, William’s mother decided to take him to the bank so that he does not sit idle the whole day. William reluctantly followed his mother as he had no other alternative. They had a brisk walk to the small bank nearby. They entered the bank and sat down on the long rows of chairs to wait for their turn.

Suddenly a jeep halted outside the bank. Five masked men alighted from it and a loud scream rent the air as the robbers aimed a revolver at the people. The sudden change of events sent a shiver down William’s spine. The shortest man of the gang, who was apparently the leader, aimed the gun at the manager. The poor manager who was wiping his intense sweating from the brow was ordered in a menacing, hoarse voice by the leader to bring the keys for the safe. Hearing this announcement Mrs. Jones started fumbling in her purse for the mobile phone but the eagle sharp eyes of one of the gang-men caught this hasty movement. The robber immediately pointed the gun towards Mrs.Jones who was restrained to do any further actions.

This is what brought out the lion in William. His feelings took a drastic change seeing his beloved mother as a captive of the robbers. The fear in him converted into gallant valor. He was determined to take any step to save his mother. Now his sharp eyes searched around for something that could help him. His gaze struck the switch board to his immediate left side. The idea of turning the fuse came into his mind as a lightning. He remembered the words of his teacher that a brave person is not one who is never scared but a person who overcomes his fear by developing courage.

With these words ringing in his ears he turned off the lights. A wild cry was heard from the burglars as they were overpowered by the people in the darkness. The thieves were stranded without a revolver. The people instantly summoned for the police. They now praised William for his bravery. His mother’s chest swelled up in pride. William’s smiling photo was all over the newspaper the next day and he was immensely admired for his heroism.

This important incident changed the life of William. He was never again known as the scared boy but as the savior. The lesson he learnt from the event is something that he will cherish life-long.

Hope you think that this is better than my previous attemp! Do tell me what you think.

The Land Of Paper People

“Hurry up! I can’t really wait so long to explore this house”, shouted the excited Mak to his elder sister Maria. “Coming, a minute please” replied Maria. Mak & Maria are twins aged 10. Mak is taller and stronger than Maria and thus more obstinate. They both have just moved into the countryside and have now bought a great old house as their abode. Their parents are unpacking the belongings and so Mak & Maria believe this is the right opportunity to explore this house.

“We’ll be back in an hour, Mom”, shouts Maria running as fast as her legs could carry her. With her long hair tied in a pony she is exhausted when she reaches the old staircase where the burly Mak is scowling at her for coming so late. Soon thereafter they started exploring the house and decided to start with this old staircase. “Ah!”, says Mak “that fifth stair looks a bit weird and out of place. Isn’t it a bit strange?” But Maria had already started the race to that step. Mak followed close in track. As soon as they both were standing on it, Mak said the first word that came into his mind “Swoosh!”

Unexpectedly the stair began to shrink and suddenly it disappeared. Now the kids were standing on a strange green grass looking as if it was colored by some small child in green crayons, but the only difference was that the portrait was alive. With their eyes almost falling out, the children stared at the scene around them.

All around them were people made of paper!! There was a paper-mom who was leaving her small paper-kids at a paper school and buying some groceries too. There were various people around them, made only and only of paper.

Suddenly a young paper-boy came running towards them. He was dead scared and words came slowly trembling out of his mouth. He said, “I’m the king of paper-land. Welcome. We are in great trouble. Ah! There comes the monster scissors!”

Soon enough they saw a large, menacing scissors coming towards the town. It was taking undue advantage of its strength, creating a trouble wherever it went! It was cutting down the paper-trees, crushing the buildings and creating terror. As soon as they saw it Mak shouted at it. Like most of the bullies the scissors was scared when it saw a stronger human than himself and so he ran away.

Full of gratitude, the kind and delicate paper-people thanked them. The king told them his problem about how his land and its inhabitants were being troubled by this cruel and pernicious monster scissors. It was after the life of his people.

The king said “You are the only people who can help us in destroying the monster scissors. I will be full of gratefulness if you help us”.

Mak & Maria decided to help these kind souls. They hatched a plot to destroy the monster scissors. Mak had some matchboxes in his pocket. He used this to burn the house of the monster scissors. Soon the house was devoured by large flames and they could hear the screams of monster scissors that was also burnt along with the house.

The paper-people now had a great feast in the joy for destroying their long last enemy. They graced Mak & Maria. After promising to come back again, the kids departed for their enchanted house!

This is one of my efforts on fantasy writing. Hope you adore it!

The children by the street…. Help!

Have you ever considered

The lives of those in pain?

Have you ever thought of

The people lying on the lane?

The children by the street

Are an awful sight to see

My heart is full of sorrow

Thinking it could have been me!

So help those who you think

Are in need of charity

And you yourself

Should impede spending lavishly

Stop being so wicked

And fill your heart with compassion

For those who can’t have anything

Except heart-rendering pain!

Do you agree? Please let me know by commenting below.

My discovery of the ‘Blogosphere’!

It was a dull winter Sunday. The city was covered with cold white snowflakes and unpleasant frost. The bright shimmering sun was behind a huge cloud. This made my morning more dreary and gloomy. I woke up hoping for a good day ahead, but the opposite was in store for me.

I decided to have a bath in hot water in order to protect myself from the dreadful weather outside. I poured the water on myself thinking it was hot but I had a hard lump in my throat when I understood that the water was biting cold. Oh yes, My hand and feet became numb and I stood there for a few seconds as an ice-statue. Suddenly, the gravity of the situation struck me hard and I was so irate that I opted out of taking a bath today. I felt sticky and uncomfortable but my strong willed nature controlled my feelings.

I then went down to have a sumptuous breakfast. Wow! The plates were full of my favorite dishes. I forgot all my anguish and decided to devour this feast. I cursed my lucky stars when I saw a fly sitting on one of the dishes. My annoyance and fury flooded back into my head and took the better hand of me. I was so displeased that I did not have a morsel of food for breakfast.

To brighten my anger, I decided to play with my brother. I was so eager that I entered his room without knocking and absolutely forgot that he abhors even the thought of someone entering his room without knocking. He was so infuriated by my impudent behavior that he refused to play with me or lend me his toys. I burst into tears of anger and sorrow. This was such a wretched day!

I now settled down with my Library novel. I turned to the second page and noticed that there instead of the second page lay the fortieth page! It took me seconds to understand that some mischievous child had torn the pages in-between. I read the next page but could make no head or tail of it, so I dejectedly closed the book. With no other alternative left I sat down to watch the idiot-box. Once again I was unfortunate as I sat there switching channels- news, some old black and white movie, news again, chat show. Ah! No cartoon or other channels I’d love to watch. Disgusted I turned off the television and sat there in dilemma thinking about what to do next.

I decided to go and help my mother. I began pestering her and so irritated she gave me the job of keeping the cups on the table. I decided to have some fun doing this task so I picked up 5 cups at once. I was halfway across the kitchen when a fly came and sat on my nose. Crash-boom-Bang! Went the cups on the floor as I moved my hand to swat the fly. Thank-Goodness, I wasn’t hurt but all those costly cups were shattered into a thousand fragments. My mother sure gave me an ill-tempered piece of her mind.

Now really irritated I went into my room and deliberately switched on the computer. This is when I discovered the ‘Blogosphere’ and sought after the fun and enjoyment it provided1 I joined in and the rest of my day was really pleasing! Now I sit here writing how my blog gave me a few happy moments in the most dreadful day of my life!

Have you ever had such an experience? I would sure love to know!

Rescuing A House On Fire!

I tripped several times as I walked along this path to explore the old but majestic house, which stood amidst the hills carpeted in green. It was now ruined with its beautiful white stones falling down.

I imagined how grand and splendid it would have been some years back and it would surely be a treat to the eyes to look at it then! But it was now all dilapidated and unoccupied. Wild flowers grew in the crumbling walls. A wild plum tree grew straight out of the floor where had there once been the garden ground. Lizards scuttled over the stones while a melodious cuckoo sat on the empty window and sang its heart out.

My family was visiting the hill side to spend our vacations. I was taking my usual morning walk when I discovered this house. Filled with curiosity and inquisitiveness, I decided to explore it. It looked a bit strange among the dainty blue bells and beautiful prim-roses that grew near the hills and oh! yes, a host of golden daffodils swaying in the breeze was in sight too.

I was going to enter the house when I remembered that how worried my parents would be when if I did not return home in time. Thus I urged myself to walk back home and come back in the evening. I dashed back home, had my breakfast and then our family went sight seeing. We came back late at night and I was really exhausted. So I decided to explore this house the next day.

I waited eagerly for the time to arrive and then with full of excitement I set out on my expedition. When I was near my destination, I discovered that there was black smoke all around me. I coughed a lot, but this could not stop my determination to explore this house.

As soon as I reached the house, I was shocked to see fire fanning out devouring parts of the house and slowly reaching out to the tall trees! It had caught fire! Half the house was already consumed by those fiery blazing flames!

I decided to run down to the nearby farm from where I could telephone and call for the fire brigade. I reached the nearest farm house occupied by an old couple. When I explained the situation to them, they were really helpful. They telephoned the police and fire department who set out immediately!

The news spread like wild fire in the hillside and soon people gathered around this place pouring pales of water all over the house. My parents and brother arrived soon after and helped the vast crowd in stopping the fire.

The fire brigade set to work as soon as they arrived by showering a great amount of water through huge pipes! This great effort showed its result as the fire ceased down. I took a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from my brow!

I wanted to learn about the mystery of how the house caught fire; but unfortunately could not find any explanation. I was really disappointed and shocked by this sudden change of events. Oh! I also missed the chance to explore this great house. Till date no one has been able to find out how the fire started and I am still searching for clues.

Have you ever had such an experience? Do tell me something about it!

An Encounter With A Bee

Once I saw a bee

That couldn’t fly

And then I exclaimed

“Oh my my!”

I asked him about this mystery

He told me that he had no wings

Then I stopped wondering

Why it didn’t hover above the swings

I then asked him how he traveled

He told me an answer without any fuss

He said that he traveled

Comfortably in a bus!!!

This is another attempt on poetry by me. Hope you liked it. Did you? Please let me know.......

Oh! You Can’t See Me…..

Have you guys ever pondered over how much fun you could have by playing pranks on others and they couldn’t see you. Or in simple words – what would you do if had (oh, Yes!) an invisible cloak? This is what I thought about last night and eagerly wrote this journal to express my thoughts before you. So, tighten your seat belts and get ready to go on a roller coaster ride. Hurray!!

One bright morning I lazily woke up late and had to hear a sound scolding from my mother. I hastily got ready. It was then that I noticed a brown package lying on my table. It was addressed to me! There was no sender’s name on it.

Full of curiosity, I opened the package and watched in astonishment a rather dark & worn out cloak coming out of it. Oh! I said in dismay as I had expected a whole treasure of candies and chocolates or anything more interesting than this dull cloak.

I could not restrain my feelings to wear the cloak once before I threw it away (as I had thought of eventually doing). I then wore it and decided to admire myself in the mirror. I stood in front of the mirror, but couldn’t see any reflection in it. Really bewildered, I made myself believe that I had some problem in my eyesight and I would have to wear those nasty spectacles.

I dashed down the stairs to show this strange gift to my mother. I stood in the kitchen and asked my mom how I looked, but got no reply.

A bit hurt, I went down to the garden. I sat on the bench and wondered about the incidents that happened today when it suddenly struck me that I must have been invisible. I chided myself at those childish thoughts and looked down at myself. My eyes nearly popped out (so much that I thought they would really fall down!) when I could not see myself my body, my legs or even my hands! This is when I realized that it was indeed an invisible cloak! Scenes of Harry Potter, Hermoine & Ron hiding beneath their invisible cloak flooded into my memories. I was overjoyed and felt really marvelous at the thought of it! I removed the cloak, ran to the kitchen and told my mom that I would not be home today and would be staying at my cousin’s house. She agreed readily to get rid of me and work in peace.

I first decided to scare my younger brother who always boasts about his courageousness! I ran into his room, switched off the lights, quickly put a white bed sheet over me and glided over to my brother. He was so horror struck that no words came out of his parched throat. Then he suddenly screamed wildly, ran down the stairs to my mother and told her there is a ghost in his room. My mother calmed him down, told him to stop day-dreaming & watching those late night horror shows. I chuckled in delight and amusement to see him so scared when he was boasting so much about his gallant bravery just yesterday. Funny, isn’t it?

Next I decided to play a prank on my dad. I went to his study and displaced many papers on the table. When he returned back, I pulled at his short moustaches and tickled him. Oh! It was so very amusing to see him laughing and annoyed at the same time. So sad, you missed the scene!

Next on my agenda was my mother. I went into the kitchen and pulled at her long hair. She yelled in pain and was very much surprised to see no one behind her. She then ran out of the kitchen, yelling wildly!

Oh! I was ecstatic and entertained by all these hilarious pranks I played. I haven’t laughed so much throughout my life! I menacingly decided now to make the best use of this cloak and show no more dishonesty with it!

Shh! You are the only person I trusted with this secret, so please truthfully keep my secret and anyone who knows me PLEASE do not forward this journal to my parents.

Me, The Great Astronaut, Who Spacewalked !!!

It was a fine Sunday morning that I received a letter from NASA saying that my name had been short listed in the top 10 candidates to go on the moon. Wow! I exclaimed rubbing my eyes with astonishment!

Oh, I was just reading the really inspiring interviews of Sunita Williams! I hope you all have heard the name of Sunita Williams who had recently gone to space. You can see her picture here.

After reading this article, my imagination went wild and I visualized my own journey to space which I describe below:

I had never imagined in my best dreams that I would be selected!!! After this I had to join the training program for some days. At that great place they mainly taught us about American and the Russian type of space stations. You need to know about the heating system, all the energy, how to regulate that, power and motion control and how the space station orients itself.(Learnt all these by reading the interviews of Sunita Williams). It’s pretty fun actually if you are interested ! In the days of my training I eagerly looked forward to moonwalks and spacewalks !! Oh ! my heart skipped a beat at the thought of it !! How wonderful !

Then the great day arrived and I sat there inside the space shuttle with that really uncomfortable space suit. ( I felt an intense itching in every part of my body but couldn’t help !! ). Then the countdown began and my journey started. I left the Earth behind and felt as if an earthquake had evolved around us! Then suddenly I was in the air. The expression on my face was horror struck!! After I learnt that this is really what happens while going into space, I was overjoyed!!! Oh yeah! It was really a great experience but after staying in the air for days I was a bit tired. I wanted to resume my position on my seat but could not. Ha! What a life? A great astronaut has struck in the mid-air. My food was really sickening. I had to gobble that disgusting space food all the time. No variety of food at all ! This is when I realized that I had become home-sick. Those delicious morsels I have at home! The extraordinary food cooked by mother. Oh !my mouth-watered at the thought of it ! But the excitement and thrilling adventure that this trip offered restrained me from doing so ! Suddenly I felt uncomfortable in that sticky space-suit and wanted to have a wash ! But that was impossible and this troubled me. (I wonder how these astronauts go to the bathroom. Anyone who knows please let me know too…hhheeeee….heeee ) :)

At last I reached the moon. Wow! I clicked some amazing pictures and now traveled a little, flying in the air !! I stayed there for six months having lots of fun and I expect that it would be too boring to describe that long stay ! I just could not have asked for more. Oh I just cannot explain the experience. 'My first view of India from space was most amazing". The first time I went out the door, I saw the whole world. You could see the earth's curvature. The second time, it was at night, and you could still see a lot of lights. We, the astronauts, minimized the effects of zero-gravity by exercising and our nutrition was carefully devised

I then started my return journey which was of similar lines. As soon as I reached the Earth I took a sigh of relief and returned home!

Hey guys ! Remember that this was an imagined journey of a 12 year old girl who knows very little about space journeys !!! Can anybody describe their experience?

A Game of Brainies !

Do you people know that I play chess too? This time I am here to encourage you to join this game!!

The history of chess states that chess was invented in my country-India (which I proudly reckon). I am sure that you would have heard that chess is a real boring and time-consuming game to indulge yourself into, but this is not so. With the invention of a chess clock you can play a very fast and exciting game of even 5 or 3 minutes!!!

Now that I have cleared one of your misconceptions but you still aren’t motivated then read on………

O.K. Now it’s time to motivate you further! This is especially for students because this game (I bet) is really beneficial for them.

The game of chess is really good for a healthy mind. Only reading does not make you intelligent so you should learn to play chess too!! It makes your brain sharp and active. It increases your concentration level too. It helps in enabling your brain to think hard before you choose a particular option. Thus, it helps you in planning your next move. Focusing, visualizing and analyzing are other significant benefits of learning this game!! If you are scared to play cricket, football or soccer because the ball may hit you hard then chess is indeed the right game for you!!!

Did you know that recent researches in the U.S show that chess improved the reading and math’s grades of school going students? In various schools chess is the part of the math’s curriculum and teacher’s vow that this has improved the grades of 55 % of the students !!

Now I am sure that I must have motivated you enough! So don’t waste your time, Go and learn to play the game today itself. (Need help? Feel free to contact me!!!)

A Memorable Maddening Journey !

Did I tell you all about my worst experience of traveling in an Indian train? I suppose not, so then this is the ideal opportunity.

When my summer vacations started on May 19, my family had planned a trip to our native place. We were supposed to travel this long journey by train. I grumbled and groaned at the thought of this. Nooo ! I never wanted to travel in those trains once again, but who cared???

I reluctantly climbed aboard the train. When I struggled in the vast crowd and reached my seat, I learnt that with a lady would be sitting next to me. How really irritating ! this lady had sharp features and a loud mouth. She wore luxurious clothes and looked wealthy. I despised looking at her and settled down comfortably on my seat with a book. Unluckily this lady had decided to make life a hell for me and she literally succeeded. Oh yes guys ! believe me she did ! She was as I said a proud and wealthy lady but that was not the trouble. The problem was that she boasted too much !

This lady started the conversation in her loud and high pitched voice. She asked me my name, class, school, where I was traveling to and other formal questions. I answered back in just the opposite manner- slowly and softly, with my face hidden behind the book. She then started talking about herself when I was least interested in her nostalgic memories. I tried to show how boring her talks were, but she ignored them. She boasted about how this was her first journey in this third grade train. How she always traveled in an airplane, with thousands servants surrounding her. This time her plane was from some other place which was just a two hour journey from here. Thus she was traveling there by train. She talked about her wealth, her husband’s flourished business and her luxurious house. Oh my ! You should have seen me fervently praying to God to shut this woman’s mouth but she continued speaking unconcerned about my discomforts.

I now thought about how really fabulous it would be to travel all alone just reading my book, listening to melodious music on my i-pod and having grand replenishing meals but no this woman was the root of all this nuisance. Not only me but other passengers too were disturbed by my loud boasting. I took a sigh of relief as the train reached her destination and the woman got down. She bid me good-bye and sincerely thanked me for being such a great audience.

Oooh! At last my wish was fulfilled and that woman got down. I sat there in silence enjoying this surprising serenity. I read my book, listened to music, admired the beauty that Mother Nature confers on us which I could see outside the window and last but not the least I wouldn’t deny saying that the rest of my journey was quite enjoyable !!!

What do you prefer? Ttravelling alone OR with a companion? Do tell me about your thoughts.

Oh, I forgot to tell you all about the answers to the puzzles I posted 3 days back. Now, let me give them:

1. If it takes three and half minutes to boil one egg, how much time will it take to boil four eggs?

The answer is three and a half minutes itself. (The pot of water should be big enough to boil 4 eggs at the same time, so it takes three and a half minutes to boil all the 4 eggs - same as with just one.)

2. What is black & white & re(a)d all over?

The answer is Newspaper. (It is black & white and a newspaper is read all over the globe)

Oh Yeah !!! I Caught A Thief !

Do you people know about the horrifying comedy of my life ?? If you don’t, read on to find out about it ………..

It was a stormy day and the black sky blazed when the thunderstorm struck ! The rain was pouring down at the window of my room where I lay thoughtfully yet scared on my bed. I was not terrified due to the gloomy weather outside but the news I saw on the idiot box an hour ago made me jump out of my skin. Oh no ! I am not a person who is easily scared of anything which includes reptiles, ghosts, parents or teachers but excludes my fear for burglars.

Sure you would be surprised, but that night I tossed and turned in my bed because I had heard that the most dangerous gang of burglars ‘the Masked Men’ had entered our city. Unable to get a sound sleep, I decided to indulge myself in a book but I was disturbed by the abrupt sound that my sharp senses picked up in the house. Ah ! here it goes again arrrrhh….tttt…. aah ! someone certainly was there. I brought courage into myself and decided to sneak out and check who these late night visitors or in my worst nightmares Robbers were ! I peeked from my bedroom window and my worst suspicions were conformed ! There was a light in my parents room, where I was sure the burglar had gone. Surely, my parents would not switch on the light at such a late hour in the night !

I tip-toed along the corridor to my parents’ room. Then suddenly a brilliant idea struck my mind. I decided to latch the room from outside without arousing any suspicion from the burglar. Then the next morning I decide to catch my booby trap. I worked accordingly and when my work was done, I was quite elated with my victory and slept soundly that night.

The next morning I woke up early only to hear the frantic banging from inside my parents’ room. I was surprised when I heard my parents and little brother yelling at the top of their voice for someone to open the door. Confused and bewildered I did so. Instead of an expected praise for catching the burglar, I had to bear the grudge of hearing a volley of scolding and comments on my gallant stupidity! Yes, I use the word stupidity because later I learnt that it was my younger brother who had switched on the light of my parents’ room because he had seen a nightmare and had gone there for comfort and support. After hearing my version, the entire family roared with laughter!!!

I guess this is the end of it. I bet that not many of us are blessed with the chance to face the valor for tackling the burglar all alone.

Have you ever experienced such a pathetic comedy in your life? Please let me know.

Have You Ever Seen Book Characters Come Alive???

I would like to tell you all about my greatest desire ever since childhood !! I think I have dozens of interesting books in my tedious, normal life and Oh ! yes it has been my most adorable dream to meet these characters alive . Great isn’t it ???

The clock had just struck
midnight and I sat there on my table drooling over my really boring History book for the great test tomorrow. Every part of my body ached and I longed to sleep on my comfortable bed. I could see the last light in the house at my father’s study being switched off and then my feelings took the better hand of me. I could not stop myself from taking an enrapturing book from my cupboard and settling down on the rocking chair in my study.

Life seemed to be a much better place to live with this great book of Nancy Drew in my hand but Voila! The next second I saw nothing but darkness all around me and suddenly I was standing under the bright sun with Bess & George. My mental machinery had abruptly stopped working and I was bewildered when I understood that I had replaced the character of Nancy Drew. Our trio was having a gala time as
Nancy was sneaking behind a suspect deciding about a plot how to capture the thief. But there was a flash and I was standing under the thundering sky drenched in the rain.

NOOO, How could I betray Bess & George. But there was no time to ponder over this as this time I had replaced the character of Frank Hardy in the great Hardy Boy mystery. I was showing off my martial art skills hurling a great kick at the intruder.

My joy knew no bounds when the next moment I had Harry Potter’s voice. (Sure, you didn’t expect me to forget that !!!). I was there standing as the studious Hermoine Granger and hearing the as usual talks of the great Harry Potter about VOLDERMORT IS UP TO THIS AND UP TO THAT. But sure, I nodded my head in agreement. How could I deny? I wish from my heart to get indulged in some of the pranks played by the twin Weasely brothers. But this time I was not lucky !!

My position had changed again and I could now hear my mother yelling at the top of her voice. Alas ! my dreams were shattered and I was back home (not at 4 PRIVATE T DRIVE !!! of course ) I stood there hoping to meet Aunt March in Little Women or replace the character of Sherlock Holmes and solve some great mysteries with Watson.

Indeed my History test went down the drain next day but I do not regret !!!

Keep Your Grey Brain Cells Working...

Do puzzles baffle you? If so, put your mental machinery to work and try these simple ones:

1. If it takes three and half minutes to boil one egg, how much time will it take to boil four eggs?

2. What is black & white & re(a)d all over?

Post your answers and comments below. The answers will be given after 3 days.

The Eighth Book of Harry Potter is being released!

I have just obtained this information from confidential sources that the Eighth book of Harry Potter is being released very soon next year...... I have also come to know that in this part Lord Voldemort returns and takes his revenge on Harry Potter. The book ends with a traumatic ending with Harry dying an awful death……

Oh, Ok guys Come-on I was just kidding!! Hope you were not befooled by my joke!

This journal is sure going to be interesting especially for all Potter crazy people like me and maybe also for all people who don’t like Harry Potter (don’t expect there are any !! ). I just finished reading the latest Harry Potter and also watched Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. Both of them are simply fabulous! I was waiting much eagerly for the release of the much hyped Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After reading it I am absolutely sure it deserved all the fame it got. I was rejuvenated to go back into the magical world of Hogwarts once again. The experience was amazing and simply charming! I loved it! It is quite an emotional story and I am sure that you too would be having a handkerchief in your hand dabbing at your wet eyes when you finish reading it. Oh, Ok I won’t tell you any more about the book to spoil the fun for the people who are going to read this great book!

The movie is adorable too. The actors are looking very much matured and older than they were looking in the earlier movie! The agonizing part is that unfortunately the movie was too short and many scenes mentioned in the book were not there in the movie. Hope J.K Rowling and the director of the movie are reading this because I suppose I have given them quiet a few tips to improve upon!

If you were fooled by my joke in the beginning or you did not like this journal do post your comments below!! I will continue writing later........ See you then.

Goodbye
