Determined To Live!

“Congratulations Mr. Zach Herney”, said the stern yet joyful voice of his new boss, “You’ve been selected for this job!” Zach couldn’t believe his ears. Hurray! He’d been selected in his first interview itself for this well-paid job. His excitement and happiness knew no bounds! At last, his hard work had paid its fruit. Zach, a twenty-three year old struggling graduate from a poor family had given the interview for this job and had been selected out of two thousand deserving candidates.

But when he was happily returning home to convey the good news, he experienced a severe head-ache. His head started turning and it felt as if the whole world was going around him in a long circle. Suddenly, his eyes closed and he fell motionless on the ground. His friends picked him up and admitted him to the hospital.

Tears of frustration dwelled in his eyes and poured down continuously. “Only 48 hours? Is that it?” he asked his irate self. Zach had been having severe head-ache and bouts of weakness since the last few days. But when he had fainted on the road returning to tell his family the good news, he had been admitted to the hospital. The doctor told him to return the next day for further tests but Zach sensed a bit of disappointment in his voice.

Well dressed and a bit scared yet enthusiastic he went to the hospital for his check-ups. When the doctor told him the results of these painful tests, he felt his enthusiasm ebbing away and anger taking its place. The doctor had told him that he had a brain tumour which was on its serious stage. In a reassuring tone he averred, “I’ll put my best physicians on your case. But you just finish all the work you have and get admitted to the hospital in 48 hours.”

He couldn’t believe his ears. “Why me out of these billion people on Earth?”, he asked the great Lord. He had got so much to do ……. join his new job the next week, support his widowed mother and look after his younger brother’s further education. How could he do it all in 48 hours?

He quietly went home and lay on his bed wondering how to break this news to his family. He was determined not to die. How could he? “No…no..no..have confidence in the great Lord…I won’t die”, he told himself. He then quietly told this bad news to his supportive family and they all wept in unison.

His family thoroughly supported him through this bad phase in his life. He admitted himself to the hospital the next day with his mom at his bedside, day and night. The doctors worked hard but there was only slight possibility of life. A few days later, the doctors were called hurriedly to Zach’s room. The patient had crept into coma!

The doctors were now certain that there was no chance but …death. Nevertheless they worked hard. After an hour’s operation, all was left to God’s mercy. The doctors had now surrendered. But they were taken aback by a strange miracle in the next few hours. Everyone heard Zach’s low breathing which developed with every passing moment. He had survived!

Doctors then told his family that it was only Zach’s mere determination to live, to support his family that had him in good health today! If it had been something medically, he wouldn’t have been alive today.

I’m inspired to write this story from a friend who had experienced similar fate. Now I think Zach is doing well with a good job in hand and supporting his family. His family must be proud to have someone like him!

I’m sending this story for the Manicastic Short Story Award on Manicastic’s Blog. The prize is a funky looking banner-thingy to put on my blog. I hope you all can see that banner on my blog soon!

Poor Little Birdie!

Once a little bird
Fell from the air
Lying near my feet
It was a sight of despair

Seeing it’s poor condition

Pity dwelled in my heart

“Oh dear birdie, don’t worry

For you care, I’ll impart”

I took him gently

In my hands

And carried him over

To my Aunt Mands

Oh sweety, you’ve
Done a great job
I’m sure your Uncle
Would love it after I mob

I’m sure he’d say it’s good
You can come after a while
You and Uncle can eat it
After he comes from his walk of a mile!

A Christmas Message!

Mama, Why doesn’t Father Christmas come to our house and bring happiness in our lives too?” asked Censorial. She is a poverty stricken little girl who lives on the corner of the street. The clouds are her ceiling and the bare ground her home. ‘He will certainly do so some day, dear”, replied her mother. There was a trace of sadness and emptiness in her voice.

There are many more such miserable voices which can be heard all around the world even on the auspicious occasion of Christmas. But do we even care to listen to them?

No, we don’t! We all are so busy and content with our lives, our comforts, our luxuries and gifts that we completely forget about these poor souls. And if we do listen to them, our answer is a discouraging “What can I do?”

But no, you can do a lot and you are the only one who can do it. Why wait for an angel to come from heaven and help these needy people? In our incredible bliss we often forget the main theme of Christmas. Christmas is certainly a time for merry making and enjoyment but not only for you but for all others too! And for us jubilant people it is also the right opportunity to help the disadvantaged!

Spend a happy Christmas but put your full efforts to make this a happy Christmas for someone else too. I’m sure you would not mind if you chose one gift from your gigantic collection and offered it to a deprived soul to stop them from spending another day without a morsel of food!

I too did the same but didn’t fell a tinge of sorrow by giving that beautiful doll to a poor little girl. And the change in her was tremendous. Her tear washed face was now bright and joyful! I loved it when I heard a sweet “Thank-You” from her. Instead of any kind of misery on offering her the gift, I felt a sense of inner pride and self-satisfaction.

That underprivileged person is also similar to you and me. So why do we feel ashamed of the poor? Lord Jesus, the Savior was also born as a poverty stricken boy in a small little stale. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth along with grand clothes and luxury! Don’t you think this is the biggest message for you to help those who are not as fortunate as us?

I wish you all a Happy and Merry Christmas! May Santa come to your home too and shower your abode with happiness and delight! But please don’t forget my Christmas message and make this a cherished Christmas for yourself and another unfortunate soul!

Which start the bad phases in our lives!

My Magical Bed!

Hey guys! Did I ever tell you this secret of mine? I suppose not as it must have slipped out of my mind to write a post about it! This big hype is…is…that…it is that I’ve got a magical bed!

Oh Yes! I am not kidding but this is the real plain truth. How then, can you explain that as soon as I’m tucked into my bed, I’m drifted off to a faraway magic land? As soon as I get into the comfortable cushion and fall asleep I have a wonderful time! So I say I’ve got a magical bed!

Every day, I visit a different place. Sometimes it’s Fairyland, sometimes Goblin Sea; even Flowery Butterfly Palace or Dwarf Castle! I have great many adventures and loads of fun visiting these exciting places. But the only problem is that I become invisible to everyone around that place when I visit it!

But today, things went different…really strange or evil, I should say! Yes you’re right, last night my magical bed became naughty and took me on a tour to the “DARK CASTLE”! I thank my lucky stars that I was invisible or I’d never have been here today, writing this post!

As soon as I stepped into ”DARK LAND”, lightning struck the sky and it’s evil light cast gloomy shadows all around the place. I dearly wished to go back but I knew it wasn’t possible after I had stepped in! Ah!

I rejuvenated myself by being more confident and courageous. Thus, I stepped into that horrid castle. All around me were horrible dark creatures. They were neither humans nor animals but a mixture of both which created a strange specie!

I soon learnt that these species inhabited this dreadful place and were called “ANHUMS”. Suddenly, I heard a pitiful cry from inside one of the locked rooms in the castle. This evoked my curiosity and I decided to find out what was going on!

I quietly entered the room and a horrible sight awaited my eyes! A beautiful lovely and charming fairy, Cassandra; a sweet dwarf, Little, and an angry goblin, Elle, were hanging upside down on a thin rope. But the rope was certainly strong and emitted a bright light as it glowed because it had been put under a spell! Below them was a cauldron boiling with water which had turned red!

Besides them stood a wicked witch, who was called Witch Ardansac. I soon understood that she was killing those innocent little souls to obtain a death potion from their blood and soul! This was really very cruel and I felt pity for those guiltless creatures. With strong grit and determination, I decided to help them out!

Soon I got the opportunity to do so. With Ardansac peeped into her huge cauldron while stirring it hard. I stepped up behind her and pushed her with all my strength. In she went and started boiling with that nasty mixture. A loud scream rent the air and the evil Witch Ardansac disappeared.

All the Anhums in this dark land turned into dwarfs, fairies, pixies, goblins, butterflies and other amiable creatures! The rope which held Cassandra, Little and Elle also magically undid itself. Then the sun rose behind the castle and flooded it’s warmth all around the place!

But there was confusion all around as everyone was surprised about who had destroyed Witch Ardansac and I was giggling away with glory to myself! I was enjoying myself looking at the puzzled expression on their faces. But I had to wake up by hearing the loud “Tring-Tring” of my alarm! Now I’m looking forward to get into my Magical Bed again and go on a wonderful tour to some magic land!

Oh yes! I know that you all must be thinking that I'm too inspired by the great J.K Rowling to write a post like this! Actually, this is true and I don't deny it. By the way, it feels great to be compared with such great writers as I too dream of touching that height some day!! :D

Murder Mystery

“Murder…murder….you…the murderer”, such voices were echoing in Faolan's head. He knew it wasn’t his fault. Oh no! It was that brutal gang who had done that. They had murdered his friend Graham while both of them were returning from a late night party! But now, he kept on remembering those horrible scenes in his mind and felt guilty of something he had not done!

As the police enquired, he had told them the truth but they didn’t believe him. They suspected Faolan of the murder as he was the only one with him. But Faolan knew it wasn’t him and he had to prove himself innocent to the Police, the family, the society and everyone else!

He then received a phone call which informed him that he would have to leave for New York that evening. Glad at the news he eagerly started packing to distress himself from this bad phase of his life. That evening, he rejoiced leaving for New York but only God knew what he had in store.

After his work at New York had been done, he decided to go to a nearby coffee shop for a rejuvenating sip of coffee. At the shop he kept on gazing out of the window and remembering those horrid visions. As his empty cup was kept on the table, he took a glance at the interior of the shop. It was bustling with people all waiting for a cup of coffee or some snacks. Suddenly his eyes went on a man sitting at the far corner of the room. He was alone and looked in a hurry.

But what attracted Faolan’s attention was his striking resemblance to his friend Graham. Faolan rubbed his eyes to see if he was dreaming but he wasn’t! It was true. Suddenly the man went out of the shop and Faolan paid the bill and hurriedly followed him. He reached a house with the name of Mr. Gabriel.

Faolan was dumbstruck. He decided to investigate the case. He tried to obtain Mr. Gabriel’s bio-data from the investigative agency and finally his hard work paid its fruit. He obtained the data and was surprised at what he read! He soon contacted the police who arrested Mr. Gabriel. He was given a lifetime jail!

The mystery was such that Mr. Gabriel was actually Mr. Graham’s identical twin. Graham had been in a financial crisis of late and asked his brother some money. Graham had refused and a cold-blooded war had started between them. Soon, Gabriel came to know that Graham had his will in Gabriel’s name but he was going to change it that day itself.

So Gabriel decided to murder him. He bribed some fellow criminals who did his job. Gabriel was to return to London the next day and take care of Graham’s property. But with the help of Faolan, his plan had been foiled!

Blogoshphere Is Bustling With Life!

With New Year around the corner, the activity on the blogosphere is bustling with life! Everyone around here is very active, tagging people, passing meme, giving awards and a lot of contests going on! But today, I discovered that I’ve so many pending tags to be finished! As the saying goes ‘a stitch in time saves nine, I too decided to finish them all off today itself!

New Year Resolutions

The first one on my list is a….oh O.K!...no million bucks for guessing…a meme!

I’ve been tagged to do a meme on New Year Resolutions by Anoop at 'Tales of A lone wolf!' I couldn’t say no of course, as it sounds so much fun! So here I go……….

I haven’t ever made a New Year Resolution before as I thought it was only for adults and not for children. But now, I’ve understood that anyone who has a strong will power and mental strength to carry on a promise with her/him the whole year is free to make one!

After stirring my mental machinery to work for a little time, I’ve at last come up with the following New Year Resolutions:

1. To win one of the online writing contest this year and make my parents look with pride at the award I receive!
2. To become the President of the Literary Club at my school this year and for that I’ve to be an active member submitting original stories and poems to the school magazine! I know this is a bit tough, but I’ll try my best to fulfill my New Year Resolutions.
3. My final resolution is that I’ll make a New Year Resolution each year and fulfill it every time!

I thank Anoop for giving me such a wonderful meme to do, but I won’t pass it on to anyone as I’m not sure who all would like to do it! So anyone who likes it is free to do the meme!

Another Award – The Friendship Badge

The next thing on my list is to thank Leena of Conceptis Addict for the award she had given me! It is such a pleasure to receive such awards and have the feeling that I’ve so many well wishers and friends on the web! This is a friendship badge and I want to thank Leena for being such a good friend and mentor! I’ll always remember these golden moments of life!

A Poem About Me

A poem has been written about me. I could not believe it!!

Guardian Angel at 'Where Bloggers and Humans Meet' has wrote a lovely and encouraging post about me. He has also written a benevolent and wonderful poem for me! Thank you so much Angel! You’re really my Blogging Guardian (Angel).

It is a lovely poem for me titled 'Delve into the mind of a budding blogger'.

The poem goes so…

In this wonderful world of blogging
Where all kinds of humans have bonding
No race, no status, no age, no religion
All humans are invited to join the session.....

To read the complete poem, follow the link:Delve into the mind of a human blogger

A Story for Me!

Once again, my friend, mentor and a great writer, Don, has written a story for me in his blog 'My 2 Cents 4 The Day'. It features me as a girl named Meghna and is all about me. I’m surprised about how much hard work Don has put in to make this story. Being a foreigner, he has given an Indian background to the story which is based in Mumbai and he has also given all the characters an Indian name! In the particular story he has given me the character of a successful writer, my only dream!

The story is titled 'A Story 4 Meghna - The Coughing Coffin'

I’m grateful to Don for his hard work, sincerity and the effort he has put in this venture! More of that, I’m glad to have such sincere and loyal friends, readers and motivators!

Thank you once again all my friends!

A Lesson Learnt!

“BEING too much ambitious and money oriented can ruin your life, dear”, explained Mrs. Ranjani to his son Rajat. But his son had turned blind, deaf and dumb at that time! All he could see were crisp green notes with great value; hear the sound of lots of car keys jingling in his pockets; all he could utter was only and only money!

YES! Rajat was like this! He had led a poverty stricken childhood and now he wished to spend a luxurious young life after working hard and getting a degree! He wanted to make his mother proud who had done all she could for him after his father’s death. But more than this, he thought of money and money and only money which could improve his lifestyle!

RAJAT opened a small business which flourished due to his hard work, sincerity and honesty! But then, he had only worked to live comfortably and now that life had changed he didn’t want comfort but luxury. He was hungry for money.

HE had got an offer form from a wealthy man to work as the head of his company which had foul means of business but the man had promised to pay him a big sum of money. Initially, Rajat had not agreed to the idea but now he reconsidered it. Not knowing what to do, he had taken advice from his mom!

BUT before that his covetousness for money had already taken root in him. He paid no heed to his mother’s advice and agreed to the offer. It was an aircraft company but due to the new emerging air services their business was going down! Mr. Armani, the wealthy owner of this company had chosen Rajat, a witty boy to take charge. He trusted that he could turn any man into a puppet in his hands with his money! And Rajat was one of his victims.

RAJAT'S mother, a devout religious lady decided to go on a pilgrimage to Haridwar. She decided to travel by a plane but did not inform her son as he had been busy stressing himself on his workload and she didn’t want to trouble him anymore!

SHE bought the plane tickets and climbed into the plane. The plane suddenly made an unexpected landing at the outskirts of a deserted city, due to technical problems. Out of the blue, many armed terrorists entered the plane and ordered everyone to settle down without a word. It didn’t take time for the passengers to understand that their plane had been hijacked!

THE first to recover from this shock was Mrs. Ranjani. Being an old, experienced and witty lady she took it upon herself to save the passengers without arousing suspicion. She asked the robber if she could take her daily medicine, to which he readily agreed. She asked them to take it out for her from the bag and when he came….. she threw a large quantity of red chilly powder at him!

WITH his eyes blazing, the robber was stranded! The other passengers took advantage of the situation and captured the other bandits too! Soon the police were informed and sirens were blazing in the area. The lady was praised for her presence of mind!

THE popularization of the other air services had resulted in the downfall of their company’s profit. In order to touch the zenith of success, Mr. Armani had decided to hijack the plane from Mumbai to Haridwar. He appointed an experienced gang for this job and Rajat was the head of this mission! They decided to raise an issue in the media about the poor air services of the other companies and popularize themselves!

RAJAT couldn’t believe his ears and eyes when he saw that his great idea had been foiled that too by his own mother. Suddenly he came back to his senses and his love for his mother aroused once again! He immediately resigned from the job and apologized to his mother! He understood how voracity and hunger for wealth and luxury could spoil a man!

I suppose, others like Rajat too have learnt a lesson! About Mr. Armani, I’m sure he must be fuming with anger and hatching another plan but this time to spoil Rajat’s new money-making, honest business!

Desire To Soar High!

Oh How I’d love to see the sky

And fly incredibly high

I’d soar like a bird

With wings stretched

And have a wonderful time

Before I go to bed!

I’d love to touch the sun

And see if my fingers burn

Or if the smiling sun

Is really stern?

I want to touch the zenith

And walk on the rainbow

The bright colors of it

Will surely make my life glow

I want to see the castles

Found in the clouds

And I’d love to build one too

Among their lovely crowds

I want to meet the great Lord

Who lives up and above

And ask him to fulfill all my wishes

And spend my life amidst true love!

Oh How I’d love to see the sky

And fly incredibly high!!

Top Secret Bank Vault Plans In Trash Bin!

A trash bin can also hold something highly valuable!!

A strange event took place recently in
Berlin! I found it while flipping through the daily morning newspaper and as it was interesting, I thought I’d present it before you!

A Berlin hairdresser was dumbstruck when he found top-secret plans of a safety vault at Berlin Bank Branch in….in…a…guess what?...in a bin! Yeah! You’ve read it correctly! This valuable information was discovered in a bin!

As I had some doubts and as it was unbelievable, I confirmed it on the net too. If you still have some doubts, you can see the full news here or here!

For further information and to fulfill the hunger if all those curious souls, the Bank in Western Berlin was officially reopened once again after renovation works which cost more then 150 million euros!

And then came the lucky hairdresser! He found the detailed information including comprehensive drawings of the safety arrangements at the bank and the location of people detectors, stairwells, grilled gates and measurements of the depth of the vault’s floor!

I must say that the hairdresser was an efficiently honest man to immediately inform the police about his discovery! This shows that good and kind hearted people still reside on this Earth!

Kudos to such kind souls! Hope you agree with me and you’re welcome to give me compliments or constructive criticism by posting a comment!

A Plea To Lord!

The news was shocking….oh no…tragic but yet very, very dreadful! Who would believe it? Who would say that this innocent eighteen year old had this imprinted in his fate? Who after all?

Refit, the innocent eighteen year old son of Mr. Randall died in a tragic death as his plane from India to New York crashed. His family was shattered! Refit had suffered throughout his life! His mother had also died in a similar accident and that too, when he was at a tender age of seven years! And now, God had written the same thing in Refit’s fate as well.

Mr. Randall couldn’t believe his years. It was only yesterday when he had gone to leave Refit to the airport and had relieved himself of an burdened heart! No! This wasn’t true! He couldn’t trust what his ears heard. His mental machinery stopped working and his face was expressionless!

After a few moments when he came back to his senses he didn’t know what to say. Tears dwelled in his eyes and flowed down continuously. Those jewel like drops were the significance of a devastated life. He didn’t know who to blame….his fate…his destiny or…God? He was heart broken!

After the funeral for a week or so, he didn’t touch a morsel of food nor would he sleep well at night. He would sit in the living room, in the old chair and stare continuously at the ceiling. It looked as if he was day dreaming. He wouldn’t talk nor answer. He was living but still he was no more!

Mr. Randall had gone insane. He couldn’t believe that his son too would have died after his wife’s death. No! Now the old man had gone lunatic after his life gave him this fruit of hard work. He decided to go on a mission to find his son. How would he live without him?

That night, when there was silence in the whole house, he noisel
essly left his residence. He tasted the dust of various airport offices and many police stations. He slept on the cold streets and ate nothing except small tit-bits of food. His life was deteriorating day by day! His old kidney disease returned but he wouldn’t abandon his mission.

He finally reached the site of the plane crash. But now, it was too late. Every thing was clear as if nothing had happened. He searched the place for a sign of his son for the whole day and finally went to sleep on the same ground as if never to wake up again!

But God had something else in mind. He was found by a traveler in a crazy position frantically searching the place in his sleep and shouting out the name of his son! The traveler took Mr. Randall to a nearby mental asylum.

He still lives here asking God to take his life when he has no one to live for. “Why does God not listen to people like me and kill those childlike souls?” he wondered. He still lies there, labeled as a lunatic, shouting out the names of his son and wife and cursing God!

Our school recently took us on a social tour to the mental asylum. There I was attracted by Mr. Randall who was really a pitiful sight to see! I learnt his history from him and his room warden and penned it down before you! The day I saw him and heard his story, I really wished God would help him!

The Tiffin Thief!

Hi Guys, This time I wrote my poem with an Indian touch. A 'Tiffin' in India means a light mid-day lunch. All Indian schools do not necessarily have a cafeteria, so the students carry lunch boxes along with ourselves. These tiffins, as we call them, are packed with lip-smacking dishes along with the sweetness and hard work of our mother's hands who wake up early to prepare her child's lunch!

To school I’d daily take a tiffin

Relishing the tasty meal within

But today I didn’t have the pleasure

Because I didn’t take the accurate measure

My tasty meal has been stolen

Then all this started happening now and then

The tiffin thief I thought I’d find

Making a great plan in my mind

That day I hid behind the table

But to understand what I saw, I was unable

A monkey entered from the chimney

Then ate every morsel and went and sat on a tree!

Happy Years Ahead!

A man climbed into the bus holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers in his hands. The flowers were in different bright hues and looked lovely combined together in a bouquet! They were really a treat to the eyes.

The man occupied a window seat and kept gazing out of the window. It looked as if he was really dreaming! The sun was radiating its light over the city. Leaves shined as the soothing light penetrated through them!

At the next stop, a young lady came and sat down beside him. She was dumbstruck by the beauty of the flowers. They looked so dazzling and jubilant that she could not take her eyes off them!

Finally when she couldn’t resist herself, she asked the man whom these flowers were for! “For my daughter” he replied, “it’s her birthday today!” “Oh how sweet!” the girl said with envy in her voice. Then they kept silent for some time and the girl continued admiring the flowers and the man kept gazing out of the window!

When the time came for the girl to get down from the bus, the man handed her the bouquet of flowers. The girl protested but the man turned a deaf ear to her. The girl told him that her daughter would be angry with him but he declined saying that she too would have liked her Dad to give the flowers to her.

The girl got down from the bus with a smile! After a few stops the man too got down and reached a cemetery where he knelt down and prayed before the grave of her dead daughter, hoping she had happy years ahead!
