The Tiffin Thief!

Hi Guys, This time I wrote my poem with an Indian touch. A 'Tiffin' in India means a light mid-day lunch. All Indian schools do not necessarily have a cafeteria, so the students carry lunch boxes along with ourselves. These tiffins, as we call them, are packed with lip-smacking dishes along with the sweetness and hard work of our mother's hands who wake up early to prepare her child's lunch!

To school I’d daily take a tiffin

Relishing the tasty meal within

But today I didn’t have the pleasure

Because I didn’t take the accurate measure

My tasty meal has been stolen

Then all this started happening now and then

The tiffin thief I thought I’d find

Making a great plan in my mind

That day I hid behind the table

But to understand what I saw, I was unable

A monkey entered from the chimney

Then ate every morsel and went and sat on a tree!

Dear stephie,
Thank you for the complements. Yes, I enjoy reading your new posts and shall visit at the earliest.

I am a lover of children's literature

That was a wonderful poem. Your such a talented girl - I could just adopt you as my own, but there is one problem: I'm not sure I want a girl who is smarter than I and writes better than I too! lol

Nice learning about the Tinfin. I only wish I knew about Tinfin's - I would have weaved it in the story I wrote for you on my blog.

Your a wonderful child and I can't wait to see how high you can climb in the wonderful world of literature.

Huggies from the land of snow and polar bears to my favorite Indian girl in sunny, warm India, land of monkeys and Tinfins'.

Hi Don,
Glad you liked it! A little correction for you. The word is Tiffins and it's really delicious!
I think there's still time before I start writing better than you. At this moment, I'm just trying! Hope I do so some day!

Thanks once again!

Meghna

Hi Jeevy,

Hi Nothingman,
Ah yeah! monkeys are a bit irritating but still they're sweet! Don't you think?
Hope a monkey doesn't steal your tiffin as it would be difficult to spend the day without eating anything!

I'll write more monkey stories to earn candies! Thanks!

norrbu

Meghna

Hi norbu,
Yes, I love RK Laxam's writing. Thanks for mentioning him!

Dear meghna,
A little cute curious piece of poetry. Hope the monkey menace problem is over by now :D

Meghna

Hi Peter Pie,
The monkey certainly felt embarrassed when I wrote such a poem because he didn't return thereafter! :D
Glad you liked it!
