EXaM FevEr!!!

As my final examinations are going on, I am full of tension and am not able to concentrate on writing something new. I apologize for this and hope you will continue reading......

But I am here to bring your attention to some of my earlier posts related to examinations. Hope you will like them (especially if you had not read them before!). So, here they are:

1. Top 10 Tips for Success in Examinations

These are some valuable tips to reduce exam pressure written with a tinge of humor! Everyone is likely to enjoy this one! It goes like this......

All of a sudden, before the examinations, God in all his manifestations becomes a real hit
with the students (especially those brave hearts who believe in studying only a day before the exams).

But as soon as the examinations are over, the short spell of spirituality comes to an abrupt end. The exam may last for a couple of weeks. Unluckily this period seems like a 1000 years! Interestingly, some way or the other, all weddings & parties seem to coincide with the exam time!

Now the patented 100% hit formulae for success in examinations:

1. Start planning your post-exam parties. This will help in maintaining your sanity.

2. Let go all these reality shows and favorite serials till the exams are over.

2. EXAMS: I am Full of Fear

This was a poem I had written during my half yearly examinations, which goes like this:

I am full of fear

Because my exams are so near

I haven’t studied at all

So I’ll have to sit and study at nightfall

And if I can’t get proper sleep

I’m sure I’ll doze off while writing the answer sheet

So don’t be crazy like me

And study also through tea

Thus if you study throughout the year

You’ll have no examination fear!!

This post can be read HERE

3. Oh, My Test!

This is a silly playful poem written just before a test and it goes like this:

Tomorrow we're having a test

In my least favorite class

I didn’t remember to study

About volume & mass!

As usual I got a zero

But this time I became the star

Because everyone else too

Had got no better than a round scar!!

You can read this HERE.

4. The School Of My Dreams!

This is a recent post about a school with no exams...I have always dreamt of such schools but as hey really do not exist, I wrote a post about it!

Every institution has a head of its own. And my school too has a head mistress. A strict yet kind and compassionate lady! She is a great woman but I have at times dreamt about what would happen if this school was run by me? Oh yes, this is what I’m writing about today!

I can imagine standing on that big podium in front of the mike addressing a number of chattering school girls. My first attempt would be to try to make them silent but after a few tries, I retrieve. After all, I too had been a child. What is the harm in letting these excited girls talk for a few minutes before assembly? They are meeting their friends after a two day weekend and they would have so much to tell! So why not allow them?

Continued...... If you are interested to read more, the entire post can be found HERE.

5. The Test Which Went Down The Drain

This again is a humorous poem wrote about a test which I took (imaginary, of course!). It is like this:

This morning I told my mom

That I couldn’t go to school

But the reason was that I had a History test

So I cried sitting like a fool!

My mom as clever as herself

Declined my plight with a smirk

And I cried out loud in dismay

As if it was an ordinary quirk!

Continued....... The entire poem can be read HERE.

Hope you enjoyed reading these posts. I also feel that reading these posts again relieved some of my tension!! And I'm sure that reading your motivating comment would make me much more confident!

Lots Of Work!

This academic session at my school has come to an end (unfortunately!). Yes, you have guessed it right! This means that my final term examinations are starting in a few days and so I got to study hard….I am digging into my school books these days (something that I should have done throughout the year) and wiping dust from them!

As my exams are nearing, I need a short break from blogging. But instead of keeping complete silence, I will continue posting some short poems or stories, so you all keep visiting! But before that, I should complete some memes that have been pending since a long time! Must say, these guys have such brilliant brains to tag….ME!!!!

The First

The first one is from Anoop at Tales Of A Lone Wolf and a bit tough! As Anoop says, “This is a meme, but a little bit serious and different. There are 10 points, and you are supposed to elaborate on each point.”

I have tried to do my best and here is what I came up with:

(1) It is important to be liked by others:
I can not say a ‘NO’ straight away to this. But I believe it is important that you like yourself and what you are. Until and unless you yourself are not satisfied with the way you are, no one will like you! But I believe it is important to be liked by our teachers and to have a lasting impression on them…especially when they check our answer sheets!

(2) Obedience is a virtue:
I don’t think so….but unfortunately at our school it is. Until and unless obedience dwells from the core of our own hearts, I cannot call it a virtue….but I may be wrong!

(3) People are not malicious but they become so because of bad experiences or circumstances:
Not everyone but yes, some people are a bit malicious. I do not know if it is due to bad experiences or circumstances but yes, such people are not bad in any way but a little less good than the other angels!

(4) Education broadens our view and makes people more humane:
Education of course broadens our view and teaches us the worldly vice but at the end it all depends upon us and upon what we want to derive from our education!

(5) People who have no money troubles are happier:
Money is not the only trouble in life and there are many other problems that a man can face. Look at me….I don’t have any money troubles (Thanks to my parents) but I can not say I am completely happy. I have lots of troubles like school, studies etc….I won’t say they are major problems but you can count them in my ‘troubles’!

(6) As people get older they get wiser:
I can not say so as I haven’t grown much old yet but I do believe that as we get older, we get much more experienced and experience makes a man wiser, they say. (Old is Gold!)

(7) You can live on love and fresh air:
I have no idea about you all, but I can not. What about my chocolates, ice-creams, books, school……. I sure can’t live without these things alone!

(8) There is a celestial guardian angel looking after each one of us:
I believe in this. There is some great power up there to look after each one of us….and He is especially relevant during my examinations!

(9) All living beings reincarnate:
I can only tell you this if I do…….but I do not believe in this!

(10) Heaven and Hell are places you go to after death.
Hey…this is getting stranger…. why think about death when you are still alive? I am happy with my life so I have never thought about this! Sorry….

The Second

The second one is from the chess lover Nikita at Chessalee and a bit unusual tag too. According to the tag, all I have got to do is to pick a book lying nearest to me and open to page 123 of the book and copy down lines 6, 7 and 8.

I have recently finished reading the book ‘Deception Point’ by Dan Brown. It is a fabulous book and fun to read. I’m in awe of Dan Brown about how much courage he has to write and publish this novel! Anyways….. Page 123, lines 6, 7 and 8:

Sexton felt an anger simmering. Now Tench was putting words in his mouth. He tried to counter but Tench was already talking.

“So you’re saying, Senator, for the record, that you would do away with the agency that put men on the moon?”

“I’m saying that the space race is over! Times have changed. NASA no longer plays a critical role in the lives of everyday Americans and yet we continue to fund them as though they do.”

The Third

The next tag is from Vagabond Dreamer at Ravings of a Nomadic Mind. This is a hilarious one. I’m sure you all will enjoy this…I have to answer the questions and create my names with the options given in the brackets!

(1). Your Rock Star Name: (first pet & current car)

The Wonderful Summer Days

The gentle summer breeze

The enriching fragrance of flowers

The sound of the bells of the ice-cream van

Everything reminds me of my last summers

What a wonderful time I’d have

Singing songs and playing in the sun

Picking flowers and fruits from the trees

And eating mangoes, which was real fun!

Eating many ice-creams

Eagerly waiting for the ice-cream man to come

We all would shout out in glee

And for the tasty treats we’d run

Ah! I remember those wonderful times

When I look out today

The dark, serene and awfully cold scene outside

Makes me remember that good old summer days!

The INTERNET Friend!

Ronnie ran home, threw his bag on the floor and before even changing his dress or washing his dirty legs and hands, he excitedly switched on the computer.

"Ronnie dear, lunch is ready. Go wash your face and eat something….Oh Ronnie, change your dress, eat your lunch and then switch on the computer", said the angry voice of Mrs. Stevenson when she entered Ronnie’s room.

But Ronnie turned a deaf ear towards her. He was absorbed in reading the messages flashing on his screen. Mrs. Stevenson sadly shook her head and went away mumbling to herself!

But Ronnie did not care! All he wanted to do now was to read the messages that Alexander Mortail was sending….

Just a week before, Ronnie had found a social networking site and he too had followed the craze and joined in! It was here that Ronnie read Alexander’s profile and they became friends. He discovered that Alexander and he had lots of things in common, like their love for ice-creams and chocolates, the Age Of Empire Game, chess, reading etc. They both were in the same classes and of the same age. This made things furthermore exciting!

Like usual, Ronnie and Alexander were excitedly talking about the next level in the AOE game when Alexander suddenly said that he was not like all the other people on Earth! This made the curious chap Ronnie excited! His imagination began to soar and he dreamt that Alexander was an alien from Mars…with two antennas and huge bulging eyes!

“Then who are you?” typed the excited and trembling hands of Ronnie…eagerly waiting for an answer!

“Hey..I got to go! Talk to you tomorrow! Same time and tomorrow I will also unveil my secret!” replied Alexander!

Ronnie did not get a wink of sleep for the whole night! He dreamt about who Alexander was..was he an alien or a boy with supernatural powers like Spiderman or Batman or was he…was he…something really different from what he thought?

Finally the great day arrived. Ronnie excitedly stared at the computer screen. There was nothing in it! Suddenly Alexander replied…a strange message flashed there!

“Switch on the television. Flick to the WWN (World Wide News) channel and you will see me there!” Alexander said!

Surprised at this strange reply Ronnie turned on the television! He flicked channels.. waiting impatiently to find WWN. After some time of changing channels and surfing through the channels...black and white movie, Cartoon Network....WWN! Here it was!

Ronnie couldn’t believe he was in his senses. Before him sat a skinny looking boy on a wheelchair, who had a smile etched on his pale face. He introduced himself as Alexander Mortail!

Alexander Mortal was a physically challenged boy. He was from a wealthy family but his parents could do nothing for his illness. Alexander had lost both his legs and one hand in a car accident and since then, he had been using a wheelchair! He had tried to join normal schools but the kids sneered at him and made fun of his physical inability.

But one day, Alexander’s father bought him a computer. It was then that he learnt about the internet…

He left school and started taking online lessons. He also joined many social networking sites where he made friends with many kids who shared the same passion with him for games and chocolates. He was just like another ordinary internet freak in the virtual world but not in reality!

“I am obliged to be using the internet. I have made many friends who share the same passion as me and do not make fun of my disability. It has provided me with a place to interact with normal kids and talk to them as an ordinary boy” Alexander said in the interview with tears dwelling in his eyes….

Ronnie stared in astonishment at what he saw and heard. He too broke into silent tears after hearing that Alexander did not have a long time to live as the other bones in his body had also been infected and were degrading day by day. Ronnie decided to continue talking to Alexander till he was there…

“I loved your interview!” wrote Ronnie…so how many chocolates did you eat today…I ate 7…………….they continued chatting but they did not know that tears were glistening as the shimmering moonlight on the cheeks of both boys!

Newton And The Apple Tree!

When Newton sat under an apple tree

And saw an apple fall

What did he discover, dear children?

I want an answer from all

An excited chatter followed

The whole class in a mess

Everyone was in a bid to answer

To have a golden star on his dress!

A child stood up from the back

And after a silence for free

He said, “Newton thanked Lord

That he wasn’t sitting directly under a coconut tree!"

The Blood Dripping Face! (Part-3)

This is the last part of the story. The first part can be read here...and the second part can be read here...

This is the first time I'm writing such a long story so i am really very excited. Hope you all enjoyed reading this long story!

Madeline was surprised! She had never seen such an eccentric before. Was he crazy? Or did she do something? Curiosity led her to follow the boy. She saw him reach an abandoned garden. He cautiously looked around himself and then quietly sat down on the bench, lost in thought. Madeline stealthily crept in front of him. Before he could utter a word, Madeline said hi and introduced herself.

Joel was surprised to see the girl smiling at him! He remembered how hard he was trying since morning to forget that dream; but now that girl was talking to him and trying to be his friend. However, he consented! Both friends sat down on the bench and started talking. Soon they discovered that they both were neighbors. With a promise to meet Madeline again the next day, Joel went back to his home!

In bed, Joel could not sleep. No way! Those horrifying images crept into his mind as soon as he closed his eyes and then the next minute..Madeline’s smiling face flashed before him. The whole night, Joel was in a fix.

Finally as the dawn arrived, Joel decided to visit Madeline and tell let her into this terrifying secret. He had a hasty breakfast and then broke into a run towards Madeline’s house. He was nervous when his shaking hands pressed the bell…tringgggggg

Madeline opened the door. She was as surprised as Joel was nervous. She invited him inside. When Joel was comfortably seated in the living room, Madeline noticed that he was sweating.

“Would you like a glass of water, Joel?” she asked.

“Oh yes, please!” Joel said gratefully.

As Madeline left the room to fetch water, Joel looked around. It was a cozy little room. The interior was tastefully and artistically decorated. Suddenly his eyes fell upon a well framed photograph. It was the photo of a young girl. Joel went nearer for clearer view.

He was confused and amazed at what he saw. The photo was exactly similar to Madeline though she looked younger. But the fascinating fact was that there were white flowers in front of the photo and a candle was burning. This meant that the girl in the photo was…dead…but?

Madeline entered the room with a glass of water but her smile changed into a frown when she saw Joel standing next to Valentine’s photo. Before she could speak, Joel asked,

“Who...who is she?”

Madeline had never wanted to tell this to anyone but she had no other option now!

“She is my twin sister, Valentine. Joel, we lived at your house before you came in there. My sister, my father and I lived a happy and contented life. But suddenly one day.......hell broke loose. Our dad married an old lady who now became our step-mother. She was a cruel woman who always acted benevolent in front of my father; but behind her back she would bully and threaten us.”

“She would make us work hard and toil day and night. One day, Valentine refused to follow her orders. My step-mom became irritated. She closed Valentine in the attic and left her there for the whole day. Dad returned the next day and found Valentine missing. She had been banging at the door until midnight but the next morning, when dad returned ..... all was quite. My mom led him to the attic but we were horrified at what we saw. There were spiders walking around the dead body of poor Valentine as she lay in a pool of blood. My father left the woman and since then, we’ve been living here. By the way, yesterday was her 13th birthday and her 3rd death anniversary!” Madeline replied

Joel was dumbstruck at what he heard! He hurried back home and asked his parents to take a new home. He never wanted to live in this house…

A week later when Joel was shifting away to a new home; he visited the attic for the last time. The warm rays of the sun streamed into the room enlightening him… “May Lord shower his holy blessings upon her” he murmured and left; never to return again.

The screaming echoes of poor Valentine can still be heard at 18,Durham Street……….

Hurray...We're done now! I'm glad I could finish this long story and hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Thanks for your patience for waiting for these parts and then reading these stories!

And yes, do you think I should write more long stories for the further posts or should I stick to the shorter ones which can fit in one single post?

The Blood Dripping Face! (Part-2)

This is the second part of the story. The first part can be read here...

I was delighted to read the response to the first part of this horror story, thus I decided to publish this post as soon as possible. Hope you like this as much as you liked the other post!

Joel felt as if he was burning …he opened his eyes and looked around. He was in his own room…he felt the warm hands of his mother caressing his forehead! He sat up with little difficulty and stared at his mother’s face with questioning eyes!

“What happened, ma?” Joel murmured.

“You are all right, dear? Don’t worry!” His mother answered.

“But…but…what happened?” he asked with a confused tinge in his voice!

“It was late last night when we heard you scream. Your father checked in your room but could not find you there. We heard your voice again…but this time it came from somewhere on the second floor. Your father found the old attic door opened and there you lay. You had fainted and were looking ill. You were bathed with sweat so we brought you back to your room. You have been sleeping for a couple of hours since then!”, his mother explained

Suddenly the dreaded memory flooded back to his mind …the girl..the blood..the spider….ahhhh! His mother soon left him alone in the room and did not ask him any questions keeping in mind that he was unwell.

Joel tried hard to forget that horrifying incident. He told himself that it was all a bad nightmare. However, the harder he tried to forget, the more he remembered the incident. He decided that it was best for him to go outside and take some fresh air. He dressed himself and went for a walk.

Joel walked alone…lost in thought with no idea of the place, time or hour. It was an abandoned street with no other soul in sight. Suddenly, he saw a girl coming from the opposite direction. At first sight, Joel didn’t see anything special but as she came nearer……

Joel found her with a striking resemblance to someone…someone…. All of a sudden, the memories rushed back to his mind! The girl…the stranger's face was exactly like the girl’s face he had seen last night. Except that she was better looking with no blood drops or sharp teeth. But her brown eyes..yes..she was that girl!

As she came nearer..he shrieked in terror and ran away……..

(TO BE CONTINUED..................)

I'm glad you had so much patience but there is more to go! I will be posting the last part within hours but until then...keep biting your nails before the secret is unveiled..................

(UPDATE: THE THIRD & FINAL PART HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETED. IT CAN BE READ HERE)

The Blood Dripping Face!

Grrr….a loud discordant sound was made when Joel kicked opened the door. This sounded even more loud and daunting in the serene night atmosphere! But what was even more frightening was that this was the entrance to an unknown room……..

Joel Agnes was a bold and upright 13 year old who had recently shifted into an ancient yet majestic looking old house. The house was an old building with almost tumbling walls on the outside. But inside, it was surprisingly large, strong and cozy! But Joel had an eerie feeling as soon as he entered his new abode!

Joel was a curious guy. He was excited to make new friends in this unknown neighborhood and interact with new people. The easy-going, fun-loving boy had made up a firm decision to begin a new and happy life at 18-Durham Street!

That night, sleep did not knock at the door of his eyes as easily as it did usually. Tossing and turning in bed, Joel saw the last light in his parent’s room flickering and fading away to deep darkness. The house was silent with the chirping of crickets. He could see some bats outside the window too. All this gave him a creepy feeling…..

Nonetheless, Joel got up from bed and slipped on his nightgown.

“This is the right time for me to explore this house!” he decided.

Joel left his room with excitement to explore this mansion. As he slid through the stairs…he noticed a small door on the 2nd floor. The door was hidden behind the enormous clutter of his things which had not yet been shifted to the right places. The door was a small, dark black one. There was dust on it which meant that it had been untouched for a long time. The door’s hinges were rusty and probably in their last years. A loud grating sound Grr…. was created when Joel pushed the door to the unknown room.

Apprehensive about waking up the others in the house, Joel slid in as stealthily as a black shadow, through the gap he had created. Once inside, Joel found himself in complete chilling darkness. Finally his keen eyes located a small window in the room. With little strength he was able to push it open. The room was flooded with shimmering moonlight which made the objects in the room visible. Joel understood that this was an old attic. All objects were layered with a thick layer of dust. Just like the door, this room looked old and abandoned since a couple of years!

Joel then diverted his attention towards the window. The scene outside was an eerie sight. There was only bone-chilling darkness but the moon hung in the velvety sky as if on an invisible thread and brought little comfort to the intimidating atmosphere. He diverted his attention towards the windowsill where an unusually large black widow spider was walking. As he came forward…Joel heard a blood-curdling scream in the ambiance. Joel was suddenly taken aback! Out of the blue, the spider started growing. In a second or two it was as enormous as the room itself..

Then as suddenly this had happened, a face appeared on the spider. The face of a young girl. She had long, sharp teeth. Her long hair blew on her face which was bespattered with blood. There was a red glint in her eyes. The girl then screeched with menacing laughter. Joel turned back…terrified. But he could only see her face on all four sides. Joel screamed with terror and broke into a blind run towards the door. But when he reached the door…it closed with a bang..all by itself.. Joel was trapped. There was no other exit! He fainted with fear and in the dark room… sweat drops glistened on his face as bright as the blood drops on the girl’s face and as bright as the shimmering moon outside which had now been covered with a dark cloud! The only thing which brought light was the red glint in the girl’s eyes, her sharp red teeth and the fresh blood drops which had appeared near her lips…….

(TO BE CONTINUED..................)

Hi friends! Today I tried my hands at another horror story. As it is slightly long, I decided to break it up into two or three parts. Hope you enjoyed reading it.

Hey…don't go hiding inside the blanket if this scared you!
