India

India
Inside its heart, lies the impeccable shine
Nobleness is its virtue divine
Doting mother to one and all alike
It gave us birth, it gave us praise
Around the world, none is a country so great

Mother to all, Goddess to me
Yours is an undying jubilee

My heart fills with tears of joy
O my Mother, can I deny?
The love you gave, the food and shelter
Helping hand to each of your daughter
Ecstatic is one born to Thee
Roam the world, see all that is to see; but our India is the love tree

My Best Movie!

Hello friends,

How have you all been? As you must have rightly guessed- I’m finally back from my long trip. Oh…..what do I say? It was really a blast…but better less talked about before I get nostalgic about the wonderful memories. And I suppose I’m not wrong to guess too that my articulate readers might also have guessed that now I’m busy with my holiday homework which include (let me tell you) six projects, 2 surveys and 5-10 written assignments. Arghhhhhh

Now, the day after I arrived- I was as incoherent as you can imagine, for I decided to begin my studies with the most abominable subject ever- History (and the only one frequently humored by me). I would not say the subject is as abominable as the one teaching the subject at school. You can believe me when I say she has some personal problem with me and endures me to her revenge (at me talking or sleeping too much) most often.

I drowsily turned the pages as page 34 suddenly caught my attention. Instead of the dull pictures of mughals and kings with horses and swords, today there stood a picture of me smiling savagely and before my eyes popped out, my figure blurred and changed into the face of a stern wrinkled old lady in an unknown home.

I watched the page with rapped attention as the most astounding movie unveiled before me. I saw my old figure turn as I heard my History teacher (yes, can you believe it?) call out, “Mom, its getting late- I’m leaving. Those scoundrels at school must be creating a racket.” I then heard myself say, “Enough Lalita. All you care about is you school and kids. Give them and yourself a break. Its not long before I join my brigade in heaven abode so please take today off and lets spend a mother-daughter day (OMG!!! I’m her mother? Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww)”

She stared at me as if I had spoken gibberish and seeing the expression, I smirked back and then as if by magic, her features softened as she mumbled, “Of course ma.” “Okay, put that bag down and make me a good ginger tea and oh…these old legs are aching like hell, please put some oil and massage my hands and legs.” Her face wavered as she nodded numbly……and in fifteen minutes I was having a cup of hot soothing tea while my teacher massaged my legs (ROFL!! I still cannot believe it).

After the half hour ordeal Lalita (Ma’am) herself complained of her hands paining and went and sat on the couch. I began troubling, or actually revenging, her again. “Dear, I have a list of books I need to read. Can you please go down to the market and buy them,” I said and handed her a list of 40-50 non-existing books. “But Ma, it’s 1 in the noon and we haven’t had lunch; also it’s scorching hot outside”, she protested. “Don’t blabber back at me girl”, I rebuked. She nodded unwillingly again and took to the door.

I enjoyed the empty home in front of the television with a bucketful of extra-butter popcorn and pizzas ordered from a leading store. It took Lalita (ma’am) four hours to return home famished and report back that none of the leading (15 stores) she visited had the books available. I scolded her again and also remarked how dumb she was not to have eaten from a restraint and come for she knows my old age would not permit me to make food. She just made a face and slept like a log for five –six hours. Ahhh…I would have wished to do so much more….the maid came meanwhile but I ordered her to go home.

When Lalita awoke, I informed her that the maid had taken her day off….and then remarked how dirty the house was, compelling her to sweep and clean the three bedroom apartments. I scolded her for a speck of dirt in every corner and finally when she made a salt-less dinner (and heard rebukes from me again) she went to sleep after a troubling day!!

Poor child (I say so only coz I am so BENEVOLENT: P), I thought as I saw her sleeping angel-like innocent face….

But don’t let looks deceive you, I thought ……….and then alas. The wretched fan above me flipped the morose History book to another page and my wonderful movie was shattered….

This is just the beginning…I hope to continue troubling her (as she does to me) at school too….(any prank ideas?)….I smiled to myself thinking of this as the best short movie till date
:D

How's Life?

It has been a long long time since I updated you about my school and life, eh?? I always do forget it amidst my hectic life these days.

To begin with, as you all are thinking, my summer holidays haven’t begin yet!! Yea.….I can hear you gasp….I just hope you can hear me cry too. It’s not that I have a problem with going to school and studying; the only problem is with waking up early and the scorching heat. We always ignored the texts in our E.Ed books telling us about global warming, but now surely we feel the toll :(

Waking up at 5 am and then getting back home in the heat is a real ordeal. The school is only open for classes nine, ten eleven and twelfth by the way. So does that mean we

don’t feel the heat? Some one needs to understand that even though we are SUPPOSED to be grown ups……we do feel HOT!!!

Life is not a bed of roses, eh!

Life isn't a bed of roses

The teachers are just rushing with the vast syllabus. There’s too much of course to cover and too less time to do it. :|

There’s the annual concert coming up after these hols (which begin on the 21st of May) and its only thing which keeps us excited through the day. The preparations are in full swing :D

My partner (the girl sitting next to me) is really going crazy. She’s as sweet as honey but really insane!. She keeps scribbling on my hand!! Yea…can you believe it? She does all the calculations on my hand, even after I offer her rough sheets. LOL! And in the History and Hindi period when everyone including me is asleep she’s wide awake, any guesses doing what??

Scribbling on the part of my arms left after her calculations. She draws everything- from power puff girls, to flowers, to balloon and writing my name. And my arms are a scene you bet!

I’m basically completing my home assignments these days. After reaching class nine, I’ve no time….seriously!! You need to submit your chemistry practical file on Mondays, complete with 2-3 experiments. We get almost 20 sums in Maths. Then Tuesdays are busy for submission of Physics practical manuals, with 4-5 experiments. Wednesdays and Thursdays we have Hindi projects. Then Friday we have a History class test or Geography test. So you can imagine me sitting like an owl till 12 midnight completing all this stuff…..awww…And then you need to study by your own self too! Oh God!

I don’t even get time to read good novels!

You see how life is. I’m really in its traps. But I know it’ll all be a happy ending as soon as holidays begin (not denying, we have at least 28 holiday assignments)

And the good news is, I’m going out of town on the 21st. I am going to Kerala and will return by June 13th. Am really awaiting for the day to leave…..though I know I’ll miss all you guys but if I do get a chance, I promise to keep posting as much as possible from down south.

:HUGS:

CRICKET?!?!

11:30 am

It’s the greatest day in the world- why not? After all, India finally won the most coveted match against Australia. We SHOULD have a celebration- a GRAND one that is!

And who else, better than ME who arranges for the party and the celebrations? I AM the self confessed greatest cricket fan and lover ever!!! Go INDIA Go : )

PHONE CONVERSATION

Hello DJ (short for DHANANJAY)?

Yes yes….I’m very happy about the win, it was by a great margin too. A fabulous play by the boys!

Yes, so I was thinking why not have a celebration?

At my house.

I’ll arrange for the music and food.

But look, the party will be incomplete without fireworks marking India’s win.

Guessed it right bro. This is where I need your help.

Can you arrange for all the fireworks and manage the fire display? I’ll be grateful.

Yes thanks dude. An hour, right?

K….byeeee!

12:10 pm

One thing managed, now let me get to my work.

1:00 pm

Invites- DONE

2:00 pm

Food- Arranged

3:00 pm

Invites- SENT

4:00 pm

Music and DJ (Disk Jockey)- ARRANGED

5:00 pm

Lunch and Rest- Weewww! DONE

Yippeee

All set.

Now I gotta go and get ready

9:00 pm

Party begins in full swing. The fire display by DJ is the greatest rave throughout the party

11:30 pm

Senile residents near by call to complain about the loud music and fire display but calls ignored

12:00 midnight

A rocket goes and hits the roof of neighbor’s shed. DJ runs away and so do most invitees so that they don’t get into trouble.

12:30 am

The shed burns down. Neighbors out of town and others are all asleep. I go myself and somehow manage to douse the fire.

01:00 am

I decide to peek inside and check what was destroyed. I have a peek and

01:04 am

OMG! My cricket gear all burned black and blue…..I remember I had rented this shed from Mrs. Kabadia a week ago to store my lavish cricket gear which has all now blown up in ashes !

This is what happens to those who trouble their neighbors late at night over wins in petty cricket matches. (Don’t dispute me here- not even cricket lovers please!) And Oh my! The ongoing IPL-season 2 matches are really a scare with my crazy cricket loving neighbors and brother !!

That Day....

I awoke today morning, rubbing my eyes, all sweaty and wet. Oh god, no electricity? And with the global warming taking toll and (OMG!) my AC off, I felt like a melting ice-cream.

I grudgingly went to brush my teeth, squeezing at the toothpaste. And ah again! No toothpaste, I kept on squeezing till I was all exhausted and then there came out a bit of paste, but enough to refresh my mouth at least. No one at home. Mom at school- teaching, dad at office, bro at school- studying….ah what a wretched day!

That Day

O fine, I’ll get myself a hot cup of coffee now. There goes the water on the gas, and where’s the coffee powder now? Oh yes, up there on the shelf. I reach out, but can’t get it. Darn, I bring a stool and then stand ahoy and hold it unsurely in my hands, before it comes tumbling down on the floor!!

Bam! The glass jar is broken and all the coffee powder spilled on the floor, along with small glittering glass pieces. I mumble angrily again and switch off the gas to move out.

OWW!!!! A glass piece stuck in my foot : ( Awww……I do some quick medical aid and then get down to reading the paper- all full of depressing news about crime and corruption. Darn! I flip it away.

Now what? Wah! I’ll switch on the radio for some soothing music. I switch it on…..and again, bad luck….no light na? How’d I forget.

The radio, AC, computer etc. doesn’t work on inverter. So what do I do now? Oh yes, my book! I was reading Twilight last night so where’s it now? On the night stand? I had a look- not there. On my table- not there. On the dining table- not there. On the shelf- not there!

I’m not looking anymore….baaah!

So, what now? The good old phone- my savior!

I pick it up and dial my best friend- she’s taking a bath. I call another- she’s out. I call two more- both are busy in the bathroom. I give a desperate last try but again- she’s asleep! At 11 in the morning? OMG!! Why is today a holiday for me?

Fine, I’ll take a bath….I cheer myself up desperately and go on. So much water on the marble floor- brother again!!

Whaaaaammmmmmmm…..I slip!! Awww……it hurts. Seriously! I guess I’ll have some broken bones too now. What a way to begin the day. I cry and take a bath, not more wet than water for bath, then from my tears!

Then go and sit in the balcony, until the hot sun almost burns me black. I come back in.
I give up!! Today is a bad day- not a single good omen. I go get some sleep.

My blissful dreams spoilt again as mom and bro ringing the doorbell. OMG! It’s 4 in the afternoon. I open the door to be greeted by a volley of angry abuses by my brother and scolding from mom. They tell me they’ve been waiting since 2 pm.

Anyways, the bell’s ringing- light back!! I turn on the TV, was watching the most interesting show and Bam! Screen’s dark again- lights gone! Oh shit!! Not again!!

Pleaseeeeee!!

I go off. Nothing better than a good refreshing sleep again. It’s a wretched, boring sleepy day- none of my friends called back, means they are busy, so I hug the bed. At 6, I wake up again, coz of the itching on my arms and legs. Oh damn! Mosquitoes? How’d they get in here….awwww…..I stare at my red swollen arms and legs and run to get a repellent.

I go to sleep again, in my brother’s room. At 7, my friend calls- and why? To ask me why I’m not there? WHERE??? At her birthday party!!! Oh shit!! How’d I forget? I apologize and give some lame excuse about no one to drop me etc.

At eight, I eat a blanched dinner. Till 9, I wait for light to return so I don’t have to miss my favorite show. It gets over at 10. The clocks ticking with me biting my fingernails and slowly but steadily, the hands of the clock strike 10!!

I give out a loud cry as the light returns!!

I hate this DAY!!

Congratulations!

I entered the first class suite of the flight ….and oh my!! What a place!

I’d never ever, even in my dreams, imagined of traveling a meager business trip by first class. All that my pitiful music company could afford was the cheapest economy class flight ticket available on a local flight.

But as luck would have it, my flight got cancelled and to compensate, or by my stars, I was shifted to the first class section of an international flight.

I took the seat offered by a lovely air hostess, properly addressing by my name, Miss. Ramya. “My name had never before sounded so aristocratic”, I thought.

I had been provided with the window seat, by the plushest seats and comfortable headrest unlike that which I was used to.

I looked out of the window, all lost in my dreams of flamboyant blissfulness, when someone interrupted me. I unwillingly turned my face towards the interruption when my eyes were star struck….

Oh my Gosh!!! It is the great, famous and my idol, and recent Oscar winner- Mr. A.R Rahman.

Mr. Rahman was blabbering away to me in his sweet voice when all I did was stare back at his face. In my eyes there was all you can imagine- astonishment, respect, surprise, shock……

It took me a complete 5 minutes to realize that he was asking me to shift my luggage a bit to the left so that he could fit in his bags. It took another 15 minutes to believe that HE was my neighbor.

I just couldn’t stop staring at his face. No airy show or pomp about himself. I always read and knew that he was humble and modest, but never in my life had I imagined it was true, that too after winning my Oscar.

Another 5 minutes later, I realized that he was returning my flabbergasted gaze with a sweet smile. I fumbled a bit and finally managed to reply back with a smile.

“So, where to?” He asked in his musical voice.

“Mum…..mum…..Mumbai”, I replied.

He answered back with a sweet smile again. Then turned back again to mind his own work. He pulled out something that looked like an i-pod and plugged the ear phones to his ears. It took me another 15 minutes again before I touched him lightly on the arms and when he turned, I blurted out in one breath.

Are you really Mr. A.R Rahman?

He just smiled back innocently and said, “You want to hear something?”

“Su…sure”, I fumbled again, angry at myself now!

He took out a miniature keyboard, which easily fit into his laps…..and then smiled at me again

“The advent of technology”, I thought and then said out aloud, “could you please play the new sensation- Jai Ho! ?”

And then he began….oh what a time it was! I found myself lost in the melody, the tune churning around in my brain wonderfully. Each key struck was a masterstroke. The way his adroit hands moved on the keyboard and melted out the tunes, had me in awe.

And slowly the tunes came to an end and I turned back towards him, wisfully this time, with respect and confidence before muttering, "Thank you!"

"Thank you for what dear?" The old Parsi lady standing beside me asked back inquisitively.

I jolted back to the present. ….

Me standing in the local Rs 5 fare bus, being pushed to and fro by the bus jumping over the pits on the roads, the cheap tyres and the poverty stricken people. My mobile earphones finally jumped back to life with the RJ in the radio informing me that I had just heard A.R Rahman’s Oscar winning song!

All I could do was give a long sigh and mumble a unheard “nothing” to the lady.

A.R. Rehman

This post is my congratulatory post (although a bit late, but better late than never, you know!) to the wonderful personality and music maestro, A.R Rahman, for winning the Oscar for Jai Ho and doing his nation and all citizens of India so proud!

P.S- I've shunned my good old specs for contact lenses :)

Ugly Catty!

The Ugliest Cat in the World
We all want to know the most beautiful man and woman in the world, the most beautiful city, the most beautiful picture etc. But yesterday, by a stroke of luck I put on my thinking cap about which was the most beautiful cat in the world! LOL!

Anyways, then I thought, why beautiful? But while browsing, I came upon some words hinting on some cat which is regarded as the ugliest cat in the world.

So I browsed the net about the ugliest cat, and came to know about the eight-year old cat "Ugly Bat Boy" (Uggs).

Uggs lives in a US veterinary hospital for his owner refused to take him, regarding him s the ugliest cat. He has become somewhat of a center of attraction in New Hampshire.

His physical appearance to be described is a real mess. His upper body is covered in a mesh of hair but the rest of his body is hairless and hard. The most probable reason for this maybe genetic fault. His tail is lean and rat-like while his face is a chaos of wrinkles.

He is now cared by Vet Dr. Stephen Barrett who felt touched for him after his owner abandoned him.

Isn't this strange? I mean, is it right to regard a cat as ugliest?? Do we humans not care? In our case we have Miss World, Miss India etc. which crowns the most beautiful lady, but then why don't we have a Miss Ugly or Mr. Ugly?

I guess that's the problem with us. God has certainly made us superior to animals and others on Earth, but we don't have the right to treat them as we wish, only because they cannot speak or understand our language.

Now, if you have any different thoughts, I'd be glad to hear them!! What's the comment section for, after all?

P.S- Good news! Uggs is attaining fame and has even been invited to a chat show.

P.P.S- I get my result tomorrow!!! O gosh!! Can you see my hair standing??

A Silly Tale

Rock Concert

The music was blaring, the heads were swinging, long locks were flying, the people were shouting and amidst this, I felt the indistinct vibration of my mobile phone in my pocket….

“Oho”, mumbled, and fished out my phone amidst the tangle of elbows and limbs.

The screen blared showing that it was an SMS from Ronny, my best buddy.

Somehow, I managed to move out of the avalanche of swinging bodies and zestfully shouting youths. When I was in a secluded corner, I clicked the keys and watched my mobile screen in anticipation.

The message said:

Hey……I’ve been ringing you up since an hour but no response. Where are you?

Anyways, forget where you are coz…..

You’ll never believe what just happened to me!!!!

My brows raised in anticipation. I quickly typed back a reply.

Ronny bro, I’m at the U2 concert I was telling you about. The ticket cost me 1000 bucks but I finally got it. The show’s going great. But what happened to YOU?

I clicked the send button, and turned my head towards the stage. There was full on music and fun, no eyes on me, everyone glued to the band.

My mobile vibrated again. A message..... I clicked the view option with much vigor.

You just need come by my place….

NOW!! Or it’ll be too late.

“What?” I shouted. “Oho, doesn’t he understand? I spent 1000 bucks to be here, and I’m enjoying it. Plus the money I spent on parking and drinks. It cost me much, and to top it all, this is the recession season.”

Damn. He’s a buddy, so I’ll go.

I turned one wistful eye towards the band and let my ear sweep in as much melodies as it could, and then turned away and walked to find my car in the jam packed parking lot.

My silver Volvo was visible and I jumped in and drove at whatever speed I could permit my dizzy mind. It was 10 pm, what was it with Ronny?

I took a sharp turn and finally reached his house. He lived in a run down apartment as a paying guest. It was certainly a shabby place. I parked my Volvo downstairs and rushed to the second floor.

I pushed at the door, and got a stingy surprise. It was closed, so I hurt my limbs. I then patiently got down to pressing the doorbell.

I heard Ronny shabby flipons banging on the floor, as he rushed to open the door.

The door finally opened, and he beamed in ecstasy, as a small baby who got the best gift. His strong arms pushed me in, and he took me to his room.

The lights were off, so he asked me to close my eyes. When the lights were switched on and I heard some frenzied noises of making some arrangements in the room, he finally allowed me to open my eye. My eyes almost popped out at what I saw.

There sat, in front of me, in a large pot, a tomato plant that I and Ronny had planted together last week. Today, there were some bright red balls, as on a jokers nose, on it. Two small tomatoes!!

“Isn’t it great?” Ronny watched my face in anticipation.

My fury rose up the meter as I heard this. I wasted some beautifully spent 1000 bucks, a good quantity of petrol…..and why? Just to watch two silly tomatoes at 11 pm?

I turned towards Ronny, but when I saw his childlike grin and bubbly face, my anger melted. After all, this is what friends were for. Isn’t it? I remembered times, when Ronny had paid for my tickets at PVR and times when he bought me coffee and drinks. Times we had spent together is bliss.

He was my BUDDY!

I finally faked a smile in return………

Let Creativity Flow

Let Creativity Flow
Another day, another wish
Black as hell, but nowhere to dish

Can't I ever live as I please?
Doing what I want, and at ease?

Eating wherever I can
Feeding myself from the pan?

Going to every beautiful place around
Having fun and dirtying the ground

Is it necessary I follow all norms?
Just when can I live free from those forms

Killed as I am, I cannot flow
Love and creativity all buried in snow

My eyes can see all that lies beyond
Nevertheless, this society ties me to the ground

Open as the seas and skies
Please can I be like them, where no one cries?

Quit this world and their stupid rules
Rest in peace and act as much as I can like fools

Since long I've been bound in shackles but no more
Today I'll let my creativity flow and not let it deepen inside my core

Until now, I been bound in chains
Very long, I've cried a lot and bore all pains

Well today I'm free
X'mas or not, I'll be meee!

You all see how I let my creativity flow
Zeroed on letting myslef break all norms and be as crazy as I grow!!

Okay......so here's a task for you guys. Go through this poem carefully and then...

.....

Do you notice soemthing???
Tell me through comments and I'll tell you finally what's special about this poem!!!

I Am Back!!!

Party Time!
Yipeeeeeeee.........it's party time for me!

My final examinations are over today and I just returned after giving my last Physics paper(and yea, there's more than a week for the results :P ). I missed all you guys dearly. I missed your blogs, I missed you comments, I missed your encouragement, I missed your praises, I missed your updates, I missed your advices, I missed your brotherliness and sisterliness.....oh lord! I SO TRULY MISSED THE BLOGOSPHERE!

You can imagine how I stayed away from my beloved blog all these days long, but this time, it was essential. I had to score well and work hard, and believe me, for that, I needed to cut back a bit. I wouldn't say I gave my 100% for the examinations, but yes, I did give 99% and I look forward to doing even better next time.

But now, why talk about bygones?? Lets get to present.....

Guess what? Now I have an even more hectic schedule. LOL!
Yea. I have to catch up on all things I left touch with, and of course....celebrate....I'll be going to a new class this April :)

I have already made a list of books to read (which include the Twilight series) and good old bollywood flicks to catch up on. By the way, I had watched Slumdog Millionaire before exams......and I was all praises! Certainly it's double celebration after it got the Academy Awards :)

Then for my believed blog, and my friends in blogosphere, I'm back.....in full form....I'm straight away going to get back to your good old blogs (and forgive me for missing out on them) and of course, I'm going to update mine regularly with good posts.

So all those who had missed me, It's celebration time for you- with me. And those who had forgotten me and dejectedly deleted me from their lists, smile again- FOR I AM BACK!!!

I know you guys can sense the excitement- you know, I just can't stop myself!

Life's so good all over again after those dreaded exams- TV, movies, net, blogging, books..........wow........and then class 9th very soon!

I'm very very HAPPPPPPPYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S!!!

Friends
“Do you understand now?”, the teacher smiled back at her.

Yes ma’am, she answered with a brightly lit face and a thankful tone.

That’s when I awoke suddenly during the physics class and shouted eureka :P

The teacher and all the students stared back at me. “What happened, Meghna?” she asked. “Ma’am I finally found my lost Physics book. I now remember that I had kept it in my brother’s school bag because he was after my life troubling me for some heat numericals. I had refused to give the book, but when he got so inquisitive, I decided to hide it in the horses mouth itself”, I replied sheepishly.

The teacher look back angrily but finally the smile reappeared while she said, “I’m glad dear, for now, you won’t be sleeping anymore in my class I guess?”

“No ma’am”, I laughed back, with all my classmates joining in.

As soon as the bell rang, the maths period began. We stifled mouthfuls of delicious food prepared by our mothers and when we saw the teacher coming, got back to our innocent li’l self.

Day after day, we had cringed for our classes with friends and full on rocking fun quotient.

The wretched half term exams had spoilt life in between but then, it was the only time when we naughty gals finally got acquainted with school books.

There had been problems between friends or fights and lots of tears which I won’t deny. But life has its sets of problems and we always overcame them, after all, what was the lunch break for? (when you had already eaten your lunch between classes?)

But far more, there were times of fun, of games periods, of innumerable free classes, of mesmerizing talents of our classmates in mocking teachers, of the best class there ever can be.

The unity, kept us alive and living, when the dreaded books burnt lives. The smiles from our friends kept back the tears which were insensitive to sorrow or joy.

That was what we called life! School….friends and my class….that is LIFE!

P.S- This is a dedication to all my classmates (class 8) and friends in my group. I just wish they stay like this forever, never to be vanquished from my heart. Wish for many more years together to come, even after this year ends. And also, wish all you guys who are gonna appear for their board exams or any other exams, all the luck!

Random Ramblings

School

It’s time to update you about home and school I guess! Long….. long time eh?

Okay, so at school, luckily the exams have been postponed to 2nd of March. But teachers have unfortunately completed the course in all subjects and thus there is some pretty tough revision going on. We had the Physics test today…..wheeewww……It was so very tough. I mean the paper had us all sweating man!

Okay……enough about studies. Other than that, school’s pretty much boring with nothing much. Our English teacher keeps on teaching Shakespeare and half the class dozes off. Here, I also wrote a poem on it:

Shakespearean English and the Dozing Off!

The boring lines that Shakespeare wrote

The same way our teacher goes

The students are pretty much busy too

Holding one dropping head there, or two

Here she goes, not caring at all

Whether we listen

Or the dozing heads fall

The rhythmic snoring

With Portia roaring

Or Juliet calling out to Romeo

Yet students all drooling

Ah here goes, the verses he wrote

Oh why? Mr. Shakespeare?

Why trouble us both?

I can’t bear it any longer

So this poem stands in the memory of those

Who slept in heavenly bliss

Waiting for the bell to ring.

At home everything is pretty much usual. My brother also has his exams beginning the same day as me…

Oh helll….off I go now…and bury myself with those piles of books…...7 chapters in History, 5 in Biology, 4 in Chemistry, 8 in Physics, 4 in English……Oh my gosh….and not even a month….

Hey…any help or ideas how I can complete it all??

P.S- How can I forget about Maths? I have nightmares everyday!

The Pain of Love

The waves lapped at her feet, tickling her toes. Her beautifully carved hands adorned her lap. Her head was balanced on her elbows while the feral wind blew her long tresses in wild circles. Her gorgeous face rested peacefully while the smile had been washed off . A tear trickled by her rosy cheeks.

She was waiting…….just like yesterday……her engagement day.

Ring

The ambience was serene and there was an eerie purple glow to the water in the ocean. The full moon in the sky provided a brilliant light. The velvet dark clouds drifted by, soothing the damp air. The sand at the shore enjoyed the touch of her feet. Her long locks touched the water nearby and her magic charm was transferred.

Then the clock tower nearby struck 3. The moon light dimmed and dark clouds hovered above. Towards the East, the sun was rising slowly and some red harsh rays were visible on the horizon.

She gasped deeply for breath…..she tried standing but it was futile, her legs and hands had lost life.. All that kept her alive was her fluttering heart….. which as letting go too.

Then slowly, she breathed her last breath…but she couldn’t leave without a trace… The slow drops of the drizzle washed off her tears….

If only you had said, I Love Someone else- today would not have been the last day of my life.” The words rung in the air.

The diamond studded engagement ring was shimmering far more bright than the velvety moon hanging in the sky.

There was no one around. She was the lone figure, the most beautiful, far more beautiful than the sea or the moon…..but lifeless charismatic beauty it was!

My Eternal Friend

Abha
That night I was sitting in the balcony, sky gazing. The watchman, Shyam Bhaiya, was whistling tunelessly and hitting his stick at the colony gate from time to time.

It was a clear night and the moon was shining bright. The beauty and serenity of the ambience was broken by a sudden whimpering from downstairs.

I hate dogs, I literally do. I hate them to the core. So naturally, I just ignored the howling. I thought Bhaiya would do something. After a fifteen minute break, I returned to the balcony again. The voice was still audible. It struck my mind….I decided to go down and check.

On the way, I hastened by the guard house and saw Shyam Bhaiya dreaming and snoring away to glory…I decided not to wake him up. Just made a face at him and ran on.

There was construction going on in the colony. So the workmen had dug a shallow hole in the ground, which hadn’t been closed. It was pitch dark and I knew the noise was coming from within. It was 11:30 Pm at night so naturally everyone was asleep. I was so stupid and sick, to run down three stories this late at night just to check a stupid dog.

Fortunately, I was wearing my digital clock with a light. I pressed the light button and stooped down and looked into the hole. Pebble like black eyes stared back at me….and then I remembered.

A week ago, my friends at the colony had brought an injured pup and mom back with them. The pair was badly injured as a car had almost run over them. The mother of the small pup died on the way, and the pup, who was just two days old, was left alone.

The children brought it home and gave it milk and food. I watched from a distance. I disliked the pup just at first glance. It was dirty and stinking, all swathed with mud. The black ears poked from the back and a stinky, red, saliva drooling tongue. It was hate, detest, abhor for it, at first sight.

And then the hate strengthened furthermore. My friends forgot me and played with the pup. All their time was devoted to her. I hated it and blamed her for stealing my friends from me.

Back to today, it was the same pup who was staring back at me.

The revulsion strengthened to the limits. I just spat and moved away. It whimpered again.

But this time, don’t know what happened to me. I came back running, stooped the little pup in my hands and gently took it out.

I stared at my pup again and it stared back. Big black eyes looked into mine. The eyes had a depth….a fire….but something was missing. Yes, the love…..the care….the affection….of a mother. I looked at it again, but this time with a different outlook. It stood before me as an orphan. An orphan who had someone right now, but no idea what would happen next. An orphan who looked up to others.

I picked up the dirty and bruised pup in my hands and carried it home. I wiped her well with a damp soft towel. It was gleaming now. It’s bright coat shining in the light. It had a really sweet face that I had ignored before. I boiled some milk and gave it to her in my favorite saucer.

The pup was so small that it could fit into my small drawer. I took it with me, and wrapped her in my mother’s shawl. And then we slept together…..today….and for days to come.

I named her Abha, which means light. For she is the gem of my life now. She is the best friend I have and will ever have!

Shimmer Oh Candlelight Shimmer

Candle
Shimmer Oh candlelight shimmer

Though darkness and you shine
There is a faint glow but no light
The darkness dims but never vanishes
What happened to you- who does with all thy might?

Shimmer Oh candlelight shimmer

Your light flickers and dims
No idea what is happening
I stare longingly but the flames fly
As if far away a cry is calling

Shimmer Oh candlelight shimmer

All through a strong wind blows
You keep your might
But flicker…..
When will things get right?

Shimmer Oh candlelight shimmer

Then no longer can you bear
And you die away
What remains is only smoke
Though a flicker of hope still may…..

Shimmer Oh candlelight shimmer

Wish you a very Happy New Year :D

ummm.....remember??

Pages From A Diary

Diary
12th November, 2008

I'm back from college. Being there made me homesick. So I'm rushing back to Mumbai- to my house, my family, my people and my love. My bliss and overwhelming sense of relief is certainly taking hold of me, coz though I'm exhausted, the excitement brimming inside me, cannot let me sleep. I'm writing from the plane right now, and am not worried about my co-passenger asking me what I’m doing, because he's a 60 year old man, sound asleep now (I can see him drooling-eeeewwww). I cannot stop dreaming of Mom's wonderful vadaa pao and daddy's hearty laugh.

13th November, 2008

I'm at home now and sitting in my good old' room. Nothing has been moved since I left. My miniature car collection is still there and hey....there's the cute superman model. My comics are staked in the drawer too. I fell my childhood coming back. Today I'm going to meet some of my old friends at the Taj Hotel which is a ten step walk from home. It's a party there.

17th November, 2008

I just cannot content myself with the hours I spend on mom's laps or discussing matters with daddy We all went to our farmhouse today.

Oh! How I love my family.

20th November, 2008

I'm leaving for Chennai today. Am really sad to leave mom and dad for even a day. It's a week actually. I'll be back on 27th. It is for a friends wedding, one i cannot leave. Mom and I went shopping and we bought some really good clothes for me. On my insistence, she also chose a wonderful saree.

I bid goodbye but still dream of them.

Oh come on boy! You'll be back in week and there still is the phone.

25th November, 2008

I just talked to mom and dad. They are going for an anniversary party tomorrow at Taj. Whew.....finally. After I left for college, mom and dad had shunned their social life. After two years, it is now that they have finally agreed to go to a social gathering. Guess what? Mom is going to wear the new saree we bought.

.................Serial Blasts Mumbai..............

All is over, I have no family left..............

Note: This is an imaginary journal (my fictional creation) of a 18 year old guy. I don't think there is need to say more. If the terrorists do not have a heart of iron or stone, they might have realized what atrocities have been faced by others, reading umpteen articles like these.

P.S- Have a Merry Christmas guys!
