Random Ramblings

School

It’s time to update you about home and school I guess! Long….. long time eh?

Okay, so at school, luckily the exams have been postponed to 2nd of March. But teachers have unfortunately completed the course in all subjects and thus there is some pretty tough revision going on. We had the Physics test today…..wheeewww……It was so very tough. I mean the paper had us all sweating man!

Okay……enough about studies. Other than that, school’s pretty much boring with nothing much. Our English teacher keeps on teaching Shakespeare and half the class dozes off. Here, I also wrote a poem on it:

Shakespearean English and the Dozing Off!

The boring lines that Shakespeare wrote

The same way our teacher goes

The students are pretty much busy too

Holding one dropping head there, or two

Here she goes, not caring at all

Whether we listen

Or the dozing heads fall

The rhythmic snoring

With Portia roaring

Or Juliet calling out to Romeo

Yet students all drooling

Ah here goes, the verses he wrote

Oh why? Mr. Shakespeare?

Why trouble us both?

I can’t bear it any longer

So this poem stands in the memory of those

Who slept in heavenly bliss

Waiting for the bell to ring.

At home everything is pretty much usual. My brother also has his exams beginning the same day as me…

Oh helll….off I go now…and bury myself with those piles of books…...7 chapters in History, 5 in Biology, 4 in Chemistry, 8 in Physics, 4 in English……Oh my gosh….and not even a month….

Hey…any help or ideas how I can complete it all??

P.S- How can I forget about Maths? I have nightmares everyday!

EXAMS- The Night Before

ExAmS!!! OMG! The word’s always troubling me. With most of the Indian Council Of Secondary Education (ICSE and ISC) exams around the corner, or at least pre-boards and I guess other exams too, this looks like the exam season.

Okay, my exams are in March but my brother is having his right now. That’s why it’s all in the air. One thing, and I am not boasting or anything please….I’m just telling the blatant truth. I am a real lazy and hardly studying kinda gal. As you see, net and reading bestsellers is my only passion. But still, I attain 90% marks and a respectable rank among the top five intelligentsia! Dun ask me how.

Okay fine...ask??? The answer is the saving grace, my guardian angel- THE NIGHT BEFORE. Yep. I dunno if I’m brainier or something, I usually pull up 4 chapters in Biology, 3 in History and 7 in Hindi, through the night. Now now.....don'tcha raise that brow!

So being an expert (not boasting again) I’d like to share some really good tips that have helped me and are guaranteed to help you too. Here goes:

1. A Steaming Cup Of Good Hot Coffee- Yea! That’s a must. I usually do that Coffeebefore going through the ordeal of pulling an all nighter. It rejuvenates you and if not giving you some strength to retain your sleepy head, it sure gives you mental courage! And yes, my hot favorite is one with loads of chocolate topping on it!

2. Take breaks- Every 2 or1 hour, take a break between your studies. I usually set a target before taking a break. But don’t overdo it. Take a break for only fifteen minutes and please…please….for god’s sake do not doze off, and then blame me for the idea. Try doing something interesting in between.

3. Play Pranks- This is an idea for a break you take. You have a sibling? A roommate? Or a cute and sweet mom? Please beware of Dad’s though. Okay, the idea is to arm yourself with a black marker and put your creativity to work. ( Very good for those who are gonna have an art examLOL!) Make cat whiskers to your li’ brother or sister, a sweet moustache to your mom and scary eyebrows to your elder siblings. Enjoy the night !

Note: I do not take any bouquets or brickbats for the scolding or beatings you might receive. Please try at your own risk.

Dancing

4. A Dancing Break- Have an i-pod or MP3? Put it to use. Listen to hard rock and pop music and dance to it. Yea. It will refresh you and then….GET BACK TO WORK, dear!

5. Make a definite schedule for the night- As you see timetables for future goals, you need to do it here too. Remember, there are not many hours. Divide the time-slots according to the number of portions you have to study.

6.Gaming- Have a tryst with your video game too. Sure it’ll help, until your mom or dad come to know! LOL! Use internet for good games too.

Sleeping

7. Beware of lullabies- They are sure to get you sleeping. Try not to listen to slow or soft music even if they tempt you.

In the end, splash loads of water to keep you awake. Plus, do remember not to be awake after 4 am, if you sat all night, you’ll doze off while writing the exam. You need to sleep in the afternoon too. Remember to have at least five hours of sleep during your exam week, eight hours on holidays in between and eighteen hours after that!!

NOTE: Please do not give comments telling me waking up all night is bad, coz I’ve already heard loads from mum and dad so I’m trying hard to let go of the habit. Also, try not to sleep while writing exam.

In the end….STUDY STUDY STUDY! And live if you can :P

Killer Maths

M- Mental

A- Ability

T- To

H- Handle

S-Strenuous Sums

Yea....that's what maths aka mathematics actually stands for. It's a deadly ghost, a hound that troubles me in all my nightmares, which usually consists of ghastly numbers jumping around with me trembling in the center.

It looks as if all these numbers and signs (addition +, Subtraction - etc.) are deadly tribal spirits waiting for the right moment to place their poisonous teeth on me when I create a mistake and kill me with their venom.

It's the toughest thing in life and most difficult. Yes, mathematics is. I just finished my exams, as you people know, and maths was the toughest of all. I did not get a wink of sleep the night before the math exam, ummm.... I should say I was afraid to sleep or I'd have another of those deadly math nightmares.

I do not know why a student needs to do maths. Wake up teachers!!!! This is the 21st century. The technological advancement is so very huge and human life is addicted to technology.

So why in this modern world, with various calculators, high-tech puzzle solvers, net helps and computers does a student need to do maths after all? Can he not survive in this world without it? and with the help of all these gadgets?

I am doing english, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history.....but why MATHS??? Arrrgghhhh......I can still remember the day when I sat in the exam hall, scribbling away on sheets.....numbers unknown, calculations mistaken....no idea where the mind was, a math bug bit in the center, head screamed.....but I went on scribbling, afraid to close my eyes or faint!!!

I had a sip glasses of water just to satisfy my parched throat, though it was no respite, I'd say it was strength. I cannot tell you how much relief and sense of satisfaction I felt after submitting away my Mathematics paper, giving it all away for the teacher to bear and mark/grade.

And each year it's like this.....I HATE MATHS guys!!! It's a really really terrible nightmare for me. I cannot stand it....argghhhh :X

So anyone there to give me a suitable reason why I need to do maths....after all, there are so many calculators and stuff, why can I not just use them and be glad???

P.S- This post is in fond memory of my brain which died after remembering that tomorrow I'm gonna be shown the math paper. Before dying, it told me to apologize for posting so late and not commenting, all due to some movies I'd to catch up on and books I had to read.

May my brain lie in peace till the killer, mathematics is caught!

I'm On A Meme Once Again!

Hi guys! There’s another meme on my list now. My tally of memes is certainly increasing and so are my blogger friends! This time I’ve been tagged by the talented blogger Leena at Conceptis Addict to do a meme on Revealing My Dream -- A Personal Development Challenge.

Here are the rules I’ve got to follow:

1.Reveal your dream for the world to see, either on your blog (if you’re a blogger) or in the comments of a blog (like this one).

2. Remember, it’s a dream - so aim high! If your inner critic tells you that your dream isn't “realistic”, tell your inner critic to take a hike. State one of your wildest dreams AS IS.

3. Tag some other bloggers, or friends. Don’t forget this step!

4. Links back to this post are appreciated, but not essential. You could just mention that you’re responding to the Reveal Your Dream challenge on Neilsattin.com.

5. That’s it - start manifesting

6. One last thing

You’re allowed to have many dreams, but you don’t have to reveal EVERYTHING for the world to see - just pick one of them for this challenge. Also, the beauty of being human and having the freedom of choice is that you can always change your mind - and by setting the wheels in motion for the dream you mention you’ll be able to make an informed choice. Reveal your dream for the world to see. It’s risky, but I promise you’ll thank me down the road. Oh, and please keep in touch - I want to hear how it all goes!

O.K so now I got it! And here is what I think my wildest dream is!

See a book written and published by me selling like hot cakes in all the famous bookstores all over the world! Oh yeah! Won’t it be lovely to be as famous and well known like all the authors I’ve dreamt of? I saw this dream only after I made this blog and read the motivating comments of all my readers. If ever, I’m able to make this dream come true I’d love to thank each of my blog readers and motivators personally!. That’ll be even more fabulous!

This is the best dream I’ve ever seen and the only one that I hope will come true some day. All the others I see are fantasy dreams!

Tagging others to do this meme is difficult as I’ve already tagged many of my friends to do the previous memes. However, here’s the list:

  1. Guardian Angel at What Parents Should Realize
  2. Jeevy at Infinite Dreams
  3. Neha Chandok at Our Coffee House
  4. Shimmer at Chronicles Of The Runaway Poet
  5. Gary at The Title is Irrelevant.... Or Is It?

Seven Things About Me That You Might Not Know – A Meme

Hi guys! I’m back again but with something different this time. While surfing some great blogs I found that I had been tagged by Megha Mathur at Life in Black & White to do a meme. I’m glad to be a part of this great game!

Now…..now…..now, I know that you must be wondering what a meme is. According to me a meme is a chain game which tags other people around the blogosphere asking them to do the same meme. For example- you could start a meme on your three favorite movies and tag other people or your friends to do the same meme. It’s a great way to make good friends around the blogosphere!

My meme is to write seven things about me that you might not know. Ah! That’s difficult now as I’ve told all my readers most of the things about me that I know! However, I’ll try my best to do this fun meme.

  1. I read too many books- I think you all know this, but what you must not know is how many hours I read a day! I must be reading for an approximately five to seven hours in holidays. This is too much according to my mom and dad as they ( unlike other parents) at times tell me to stop reading books!

  1. I’m good at taekwondo- Oh yeah! I’m proud to say that I‘m a Black Belt in taekwondo and mind you that’s not really minor. Taekwondo, is a marshal arts like judo which originated in Korea.

  1. I am addicted to the internet- It all started at the age of ten, when some of my friends told me about the internet. And since then, I’ve been chatting and blogging all the way round!

  1. I love Chinese food- ummmm……. My mouth waters at the thought of it! It’s the best cuisine I’ve ever tasted, I suppose.

  1. I hate dark chocolates- I suppose that all of you must have known my love for chocolates. Every time you see me I must be munching away a chocolate! But did I tell you that I simply abhor dark chocolates? I don’t like them but I like milk and nut chocolates. They are yummy!

  1. I love the color blue- Yeah! That’s my favorite color. The blue sky, the Indian cricket team. It’s an all blue world in my case!

  1. I love my school- I suppose that’s not common with kids of my age! Anyways, it isn’t with the children in my class! I’m an exception though. I believe my school is the best and I’m completely in awe of it. I’m a crazy lover of my school!

Whopeeee! I’ve done this difficult task at last. I’ve successfully completed this tricky meme. But now comes another uphill struggle, I’ve got to tag 7 other people who’ll do this meme.

Library ..... Is It The Crazy Place?

“What do you think is the best place in the world?”, asked my friend as we walked home together down the lane. “hmmm….For me it is the Library, I suppose”, I answered back. “The Library”, said my friend in complete disbelief, “you must be crazy”. Then she hurried to her house leaving me far behind pondering over my thoughts. What wrong had I said after all? Why did she think I was crazy? If you all too have the same thoughts I am back once again to convince you that the library, is after all, the best place in this whole wide world!

I am a person who believes that there is bliss in solitude. Oh no! I am not really shy or timid but yes, I would much prefer the sole company of books than any other acquaintance. And according to me there is no other better place for me to enjoy life for eternity in the companionship of my dear books.

In my opinion the library is a temple of knowledge. It is an abode of enlightening books. The books in the library enhance our vocabulary and also confer general knowledge to us. Some students in this modern and high-tech world beget studious habits. So the library creates a fondness for books even after school.

The wonderful reference books in the library also help me to complete my home-work assignments and make my projects. The serene atmosphere of the Library is what I love. The calm and quite surroundings help all of us to maintain our peace of mind and concentrate in our work.

Visiting the Library is a fine way to spend your leisure time constructively in the company of books. A book is the life blood of an author and a treasure of wisdom. Thus, the abundant books at the Library also teaches a person moral values which are an important asset foe a good life.

So guys, have you all changed your opinion after reading this post? Now do you all think that the Library is a great place? Your answers and opinions are open heartedly welcome and remember that your comments are very precious as I’m still having conflicting thoughts if I should show this post to that friend of mine. Would she change her opinion? So, please do leave a comment!

Have You Ever Seen Book Characters Come Alive???

I would like to tell you all about my greatest desire ever since childhood !! I think I have dozens of interesting books in my tedious, normal life and Oh ! yes it has been my most adorable dream to meet these characters alive . Great isn’t it ???

The clock had just struck
midnight and I sat there on my table drooling over my really boring History book for the great test tomorrow. Every part of my body ached and I longed to sleep on my comfortable bed. I could see the last light in the house at my father’s study being switched off and then my feelings took the better hand of me. I could not stop myself from taking an enrapturing book from my cupboard and settling down on the rocking chair in my study.

Life seemed to be a much better place to live with this great book of Nancy Drew in my hand but Voila! The next second I saw nothing but darkness all around me and suddenly I was standing under the bright sun with Bess & George. My mental machinery had abruptly stopped working and I was bewildered when I understood that I had replaced the character of Nancy Drew. Our trio was having a gala time as
Nancy was sneaking behind a suspect deciding about a plot how to capture the thief. But there was a flash and I was standing under the thundering sky drenched in the rain.

NOOO, How could I betray Bess & George. But there was no time to ponder over this as this time I had replaced the character of Frank Hardy in the great Hardy Boy mystery. I was showing off my martial art skills hurling a great kick at the intruder.

My joy knew no bounds when the next moment I had Harry Potter’s voice. (Sure, you didn’t expect me to forget that !!!). I was there standing as the studious Hermoine Granger and hearing the as usual talks of the great Harry Potter about VOLDERMORT IS UP TO THIS AND UP TO THAT. But sure, I nodded my head in agreement. How could I deny? I wish from my heart to get indulged in some of the pranks played by the twin Weasely brothers. But this time I was not lucky !!

My position had changed again and I could now hear my mother yelling at the top of her voice. Alas ! my dreams were shattered and I was back home (not at 4 PRIVATE T DRIVE !!! of course ) I stood there hoping to meet Aunt March in Little Women or replace the character of Sherlock Holmes and solve some great mysteries with Watson.

Indeed my History test went down the drain next day but I do not regret !!!

The Eighth Book of Harry Potter is being released!

I have just obtained this information from confidential sources that the Eighth book of Harry Potter is being released very soon next year...... I have also come to know that in this part Lord Voldemort returns and takes his revenge on Harry Potter. The book ends with a traumatic ending with Harry dying an awful death……

Oh, Ok guys Come-on I was just kidding!! Hope you were not befooled by my joke!

This journal is sure going to be interesting especially for all Potter crazy people like me and maybe also for all people who don’t like Harry Potter (don’t expect there are any !! ). I just finished reading the latest Harry Potter and also watched Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. Both of them are simply fabulous! I was waiting much eagerly for the release of the much hyped Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After reading it I am absolutely sure it deserved all the fame it got. I was rejuvenated to go back into the magical world of Hogwarts once again. The experience was amazing and simply charming! I loved it! It is quite an emotional story and I am sure that you too would be having a handkerchief in your hand dabbing at your wet eyes when you finish reading it. Oh, Ok I won’t tell you any more about the book to spoil the fun for the people who are going to read this great book!

The movie is adorable too. The actors are looking very much matured and older than they were looking in the earlier movie! The agonizing part is that unfortunately the movie was too short and many scenes mentioned in the book were not there in the movie. Hope J.K Rowling and the director of the movie are reading this because I suppose I have given them quiet a few tips to improve upon!

If you were fooled by my joke in the beginning or you did not like this journal do post your comments below!! I will continue writing later........ See you then.

Goodbye
